We’re making memories now

Dads been more than a trooper, he’s truly amazed me and made me the proudest daughter.

From being first diagnosed with throat cancer 6 months ago then told a month later he had a 50% chance of beating it, he “got off the stool” as he says (a boxing analogy) and fought like hell!

After 7 weeks of intense radiotherapy, 4 of chemo, several infections, 3 blue light trips, long and lonely hospital stays, 2 resuscitation ward visits and an incredibly scary ICU stay he made it through the worst!

He really has made us so proud and what’s more we have had so many wonderful meaningful and open conversations, as well as the funniest days (most of which I can’t write down as we have dark humour).

He was feeling better, it was my 30th birthday and we found out the cancer had still spread (I would have mentioned the pelvic bone cancer earlier but I want to remember some of the highs we had), and will keep spreading...we are now making memories!

We cried, talked and cried some more. Then dad asked if we could do my presents and have a nice evening...we had the best!

Since then we have made lists of things you want to do and days we can have to make memories, time for the girls to remember! Raised over £3000 from friends and family through a gofundme to make these memories and the rest to charity, and talked laughed and lived!

We are now making memories and I am so excited to make them!

  • Hi JuiceStool

Thank you for sharing this post with us, your Dad sounds like an absolute trooper and you and your family are a credit to him.

I am sorry to read of the spread, but glad to read that you are living in the now, making memories alongside fundraising too.

Wishing you many happy and magical days.
