Hi all, As all of you on here you have hoped that you’d never have to join a support group to help with dealing with Cancer !
Well here I am and lovely to have a chat with you all. My Mum (age 69) Has just been diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer, luckily we have caught it in time for her to be offered treatment, prognosis isn’t good but it’s treatable and not cureable. We have been told had it not been picked up when it had if it had been left for another 4 weeks she wouldn’t have gotten any treatment. Sounds funny saying this but thankfully the Cancer was discovered early enough.
Im not sure how I feel about it all, think we are still in shock . My best friend is also waiting to hear from the hospital as they think that the shadow behind her Liver is malignant, I’m trying to be strong for the both of them and help them deal with how they feel about everything. Sorry enough about me... How is everyone doing ? Angie x
Hello Angie
I am so sorry for the delay in replying to your post, I am also very sorry to read about your Mum's diagnosis of Small Cell Lung Cancer, I can only imagine how shocking this must have been fr you all. To have this news at a time when your best friend is also waiting for news of her own must at times feel so over-powering, I am thankful that you have taken the time to reach out here.
I do not know a great deal about the type of cancer that your Mum has been diagnosed with but we have a really supportive Lung Cancer forum where others with more knowledge and experience will be available to discuss with you and Mum all their experiences and maybe even some suggestions to help on the journey.
I do know what it is like to have a loved one diagnosed as treatable but not curable, and the feeling as if the bottom has fallen out from underneath you will pass, if you are able to go through this with your Mum openly and honestly, expressing how you are both coping, it will be a a difficult journey, but one where no one if treading on egg shells. I do know however that not everyone can do this, so whatever works for you and Mum and also, for you and your best friend.
I wish you additional strength as you become the rock for these two amazing people in your life ((Hugs))
