How can I possibly extend the inevitable - as long as she is pain free?

Hello,

Mum is hopefully coming home tomorrow, after I got a horrendous phone call this afternoon from a pallative care nurse at the hospital.

Her lung cancer has spread - and now is in her throat too.

She is just on pain killers now, after a week of IV antibiotics & oral ones as they said she had a lower respiritory infection. Mum was given steriods this morning to help with inflammation but they had already blown her feet out of proportion by tea time so stopped them.

Is there anything, preferably natural, anyone has ever found that has helped.

I have read some very good things about cbd oil helping with sleep & pain & some say it can actually kill off cancer cells but I guess that would have to be quite strong & I would'nt know where to get that from.

I feel like I am dying inside - but I must stay strong - I am her carer and her friend.

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

It sounds like you and your mum are going through an incredibly hard time right now and it's natural to try and source things that can help her.

I don't have any personal experience but thought you might be interested in this from Macmillan about complementary therapies. It's important to realise that these therapies do not claim to treat or cure cancer but are sometimes used to boost physical or emotional health or to relieve symptoms or side effects of conventional treatments.

Macmillan also have this information on cannabis and cancer with a section on CBD oil. If you're thinking of giving CBD oil to your mum you should talk to her healthcare team beforehand.
