I am sad for my Mum who is nit in great health but watching my Dad fade in front of her.

She has tearful days which is understandable,   I do too.

Is there any professional support I can apply for?

I phone daily,  shop for them twice a week,  help and support  as much as I can.

Feeling frustrated by NHS as District Nurse couldn't find their property so didn't turn up!

Palliative care nurse phones fortnightly.

Feel more support needed for them both going through this awful time .

  • Hi

I'm sorry to hear that your mum, who is not in good health herself, is having to care for your dad. It sounds like you help out as much as you can and I'm sure they both appreciate it.

I haven't been in this position myself but have found this information for you on what support from health and social care professionals is available for your parents. Your dad's GP has overall responsibility for ensuring that he and your mum are supported so perhaps you could speak to him on their behalf, providing you dad gives his permission, and explain that they are struggling.

Your mum and dad may also want to get support from social services and again the link will take you to information about that and how they can go about arranging it.

I hope this helps a little and that someone with practical experience of your parent's situation comes along to tell you more about what help is out there.

    Sending a supportive ((hug))
