Hello there wondering if anyone is supporting someone with secondary brain cancer .Bill my husband has this and there has been no treatment for a year now .He has been deteriorating since September of last year but the last few  weeks he has got worse almost daily. His,tumour is in the area of speech memory and he has speech aspasia also new, symptons are inability to perform most tasks ie make a cup of tea prepare a meal .He needs verbal prompts for personnal care becomes confused about the rooms in the house one side of his body he has funny sensations in his hand and foot . His mobility is not too good either .Im just wondering whether he is entering the final phase of his life and what to expect .The last couple of days he has been a lot more sleepy in the day but sleeping quite well at night . I think its the not knowing thats the worse  I know medics are reluctant to predict time scales we do have good palliative support and  g.p surgery but My gut feeling is he is entering a new phase .Good luck to everyone out there .

Every responds differently. However, saying that, when my mother reached the final three weeks of her life with primary brain cancer, she started losing her speech and having mobility issues on one side of her body. Both things occurred at a quick enough pace that if I went home overnight and came back the next morning, things were noticeably worse. After about two and a half weeks, she went from walking in a 5k charity event to having no muscular control of her body and only speaking one syllable at a time and with great effort. She drifted into a coma and passed away about three days later.

Wishing you the best in an awful situation.

  • Thank you for your reply I rather think Bill is entering a new stage he is a little bit worse each day and its reassuring to know that these symptons are quite normal at this stage .It was very kind of you to reply to me as it must be hard to think about what happened to you and your poor mum its pretty horrific and I only hope that Bill dosent have to endure too much more he really has been through enough .
