Recommendations please for tube feeding

Hi everybody

So my Mum has been diagnosed with terminal mouth/face cancer and lung cancer.  She is now not able to eat or drink anything (except water) as she has a large hole in the side of her face and all her nutrition is taken through tube feeds, which I've been doing five times a day.

Mum is very independent and wants to live at home on her own (she is staying with us at the moment, but under protest!).  The only thing preventing her living at home is that she can't physically manage the tube feeds as she also has rheumatoid arthritis.

We have been provided with a few single use plastic syringes for doing her tube feeds (and I've bought more myself) but, even with thorough washing, they only seem to last for a day or two before they become really stiff and difficult to use - it gets to the point that I have to use both hands to push the feeds in, so I know Mum wouldn't be able to do it herself.

I've been looking at the stainless steel options online but, before I order, I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions or recommendations that we could try.

Thank you.

Just a guess but are you lubricating the o-rings before reassembling the syringes? I would lubricate them with a little olive or vegetable oil before reassembling them after cleaning and see if that helps.
