Hi everyone,
A family member of mine was recently diagnosed with blood cancer and the doctors mentioned a stem cell transplant as one possible treatment option. We’re still trying to understand the whole process and what recovery might look like.
I’ve been reading about transplant procedures and also came across some information about treatment options abroad. While researching, I found a platform called PlacidWay that lists different medical providers and stem cell programs.
Has anyone here explored treatment options outside their home country or used resources like that while researching?
Hi priciliakayu and a warm welcome to this corner of the community.
Is your family member in the UK?….. if not what country are they in?……. and what exact type of blood cancer do they have?
Welcome! Much will depend on the type and sub-type of the blood cancer. As well, much will also depend on the response to primary treatment and any relapse, if that should ever occur. If you can, kindly advise of the family member's exact diagnosis.
I underwent a "moderate intensity" haploidentical stem cell transplant, receiving my son's stem cells in a 5/10 or "half match" transplant. I am in the states and there are some "destination centres" there if one has the wherewithal.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
