Hi all, especially anyone facing a hospital stay,

Please feel free to add to this list!

In hospital for a transplant you may not feel much like reading or concentrating a lot, so.....

Trashy tv, films on iPad or DVDs

Favourite music, comfy headphones

Magazines

Favourite duvets/pillows, plus plenty of changes as daily laundry will be needed

Comfy clothes, nightwear and dressing gowns/onesies, slippers

Plenty of underwear changes

Favourite hand cream/lotions bearing in mind you might not want them afterwards because of association!

A few photos/posters to put up with blutack.

  • Hi, good to see you posting and sorry to read its still tough times, but as Moomy has said most of these things will work themselves out unfortunately it just takes time and that varies from person to person.

I assume you are on caphosol for the mucositis, if not then ask for it though its not as effective if introduced once its a problem though it still helps.

Hi Elaina. Good to hear from you. My husband was in hospital all over Christmas in 2013 so I have been thinking about you a lot.

    Sending lots of love

  • Bump and I had great Silicon Gel ear plugs (Boots?). I had the room next to the nursing station and you could hear them all the time, phones and alarms. The ear plugs were wonderful. I actually slept through a few night time obs :)

  • Daughter used her noise cancelling headphones (comfy ones) and had gentle music on all night, kept all the 'hospital-y' noise completely away!

Not cheap but they were well worth it then!

  • I have hearing aids in both ears (drug induced deafness - legal drugs :)) so some times I just left them in and switched the off, worked as well.
