Hi I'm Dave and I'm looking for advice on neuropathy .I had a stemcell transplant in October and got the all clear in late January. I have suffered with neuropathy in my lower back and legs ,I am having reflexology and I'm also booked in for acupuncture  .I have my legs massaged everyday. I know it's going to take a while but if anyone can give me some advice I would be grateful, also since coming off medications including oxycodon I'm finding it very hard to sleep has anyone had these side effects any advice would be appreciated, regards Dave

  • Hi again Dave  it sounds like you are doing all the things that are available out there to help overcome your neuropathy…… after my second Allo SCT I had very bad neuropathy in my hands - I used 2 hand sized rugby stress balls and this helped to encourage my nerves back into life…… but this took 2 years.

Sleep can be a mystery…… a year before my first Allo SCT I developed medically induced hearing loss due to medication used for my Lymphoma treatment. Right Ear 85% loss with remaining 15% a muffled sound with continuous pulsing 24/7 and Left Ear 50 – 60% loss + Tinnitus and now have 2 hearing aids….. in the early days my GP gave me mild sleeping meds to help me tune out the noise now I have no real problems,

A sleep workshop may be helpful - so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support workshops in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and do run workshops.
