  • Hi Gill

I think the skin cancer group is maybe the best place to get answers for you, as this group is a general group for radiotherapy for all different types of cancers. Your posts have more chance of being read by others with the same cancer and treatment in the cancer specific groups. I’m not sure how common radiotherapy is after a skin cancer so close to your eye, but can understand you’ll have concerns about the possible effects of radiotherapy.

I know you’ve posted in the skin cancer group before and had some replies and my friend Anne ( ) gave you a link to some information which could be helpful, so hopefully you’ve been able to have a read through that.

When is your next appointment with your consultant?

  • Hi Sarah , thanks for that info will look it up when I get back ,

appointment with surgery team this afternoon.

felling not good today , going through it all with my daughter last night , I don’t think she understands how frightened it all is , she’s very black and white and kind in her own way ,

she’s gone for a look around time , not gone with her as just didn’t have the energy.

    will update pm

    thanks for your thoughts

  • Hi Gill

I think it can be difficult for those who haven’t had cancer or treatments to fully understand what it’s like to go through it, and be facing something more ahead.

I was once in a similar position to your daughter when my own mum had cancer-I just wanted her to do whatever was necessary treatment wise, but I wasn’t considering the effect of that treatment on her-I was just desperate for her to survive as long as possible. I never fully understood the fear until I had cancer myself.

Now that you’ve talked about things with her last night, I hope you will have questions for your appointment this afternoon. They should answer honestly about your risks and the possible effects of trying more surgery, having radiotherapy or just monitoring. I hope then you’ll be able to make a decision that is right for you.

  • Hi Sarah,

yes I do understand,it’s difficult for both parties  .

meeting was ok ,doc very knew to job but nice , they all have to learn .

let down by hospital my notes not updated , but she asked her boss when she didn’t know the answer.

good news grade 2 out of 5

options to go in again ( may or may not be anything there , bad news could  damage muscle and nerves .

to be referred to oncology to find the pros and cons and how long treatment would be etc , it was not something she could advise .have asked for this and unless oncologist says differently will leave and see what happens

or leave it , maybe nothing there  and see what happens !

which daughter agreed to  depending on what the oncologist recommended.

so Im going to try to forget for a while.

    seems it’s slow spreading
