I have T3BC, have had my chemo and now undergoing radiotherapy for 15 days. I am steroid Dependent as the chemo damaged my pituitary gland. Has anybody body with low cortisol levels had radiotherapy? I've doubled my steroids as it's an invasive procedure, but I feel so ill. Aching all over my body, headaches, stomach pain, and nausea, dizziness. Similar to an adrenal crisis but no loss in appetite or other symptoms ive had in the past. I am fatigued due to the radiotherapy but it's the extreme leg pains that are worrying me.

  • Hi Andypandy

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so unwell at the moment.

I had both chemotherapy and radiotherapy for my own cancer.

I am quite concerned at the symptoms you are currently having and although I do not know anything about an adrenal crisis, I do know that any symptoms such as you are mentioning do need checking out. I was told to always give the 24 hours cancer helpline a call. I expect you were given a number/sepsis card during your chemo.

I actually went in myself on sepsis alert due to an infection and I went from feeling slightly unwell to feeling awful within the hour.

I did have pain during treatment and also contacted my hospital then. In fact I did it a few times. They will know whether you need to come in to be checked, if you need medication or if you just need some monitoring or reassurance.

You sound really unwell so would urge you to contact your hospital or call NHS111 for some advice. You could if you prefer call the Support Line and speak with one of the Macmillan nurses first for some advice.

    Please get checked.

    Jane

  • Thankyou so much.  I always hate ringing the yellow card but I will do tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's down to my cortisol levels xx
