Does anyone take it or know the dosage that should be taken.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I have no knowledge of the drug Fenben and the best people to ask about the correct dosage would be the hospital team who have prescribed it to you.

The online community is divided into different support groups but, as you haven't said what type of cancer you're being treated for, I can't give you a direct link to connect with others who have the same type of cancer as you.

If you are happy to tell me what type of cancer you have I can supply you with a link. Alternatively you could look through this list and choose the group appropriate to you. Once you've joined a group, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • I’m assuming that the drug being referred to is Fenbendazole, which is a drug used in the treatment of parasites in animals, so won’t have been prescribed by a mainstream hospital for human cancer treatment.

  • Hi ,

Welcome to the Online Community! My name is Matthew, and I work as part of the Online Community Team. We're the team who work on supporting our Online Community to make sure it stays safe and working well.

As our brilliant volunteer Community Champions have mentioned, the best place to get advice on taking medications is from your trusted medically-qualified health professionals.

You should always check with your doctor, Hospital Care Team, or senior specialist before taking any new medications in case they interfere with your treatment plan.

Don't forget that you can also get help and advice on medication, side-effects, and treatment by talking to one of our medically-qualified Cancer Information Nurse Specialists.

You can speak to a member of the nurse team either by calling our Macmillan Support Line on freephone 0808 808 00 00 and selecting their option from the menu, or you can post your question directly in our Ask a Nurse forum.

The Macmillan Support Line is open from 8am to 8pm every day. The Ask a Nurse forum is open to new questions from Monday at 9am to Friday at 4pm.

I trust you'll be able to get the safe and reliable advice you need through one of the options mentioned above. If you have any questions please feel free to email us in the Online Community Team directly by sending an email to community@macmillan.org.uk. We'll be happy to help!

    All the best,
    Matthew
