I've just been diagnosed with mouth cancer and my first initial consultation is tomorrow. I live on my own and I'm very worried about coping with the side affects of radiotherapy and chemo on my own..

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

It's completely natural to be worried about the prospect of your upcoming treatment but you've come to the right place to connect with others who will be happy to share their experiences with you.

I can see that you've found and joined the head and neck cancer group which I'm sure you'll find is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others with the same type of cancer. When you feel ready to post there you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
