Hi
my father got a diagnosis last week of a grade 4 brain tumour last week. He is 78 and has decided to have 3 weeks of chemotherapy to slow down the growth. He had another seizure this morning, I’m worried about my mums ability to cope with his condition as his health deteriorates. I’m also not sure how it will continue to manifest in terms of symptoms.
Hi and welcome to the online community although I'm very sorry that you've had to find us.
I know how difficult it can be for the whole family when someone is given a cancer diagnosis but you've come to the right place to talk with others in a similar situation.
The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend a couple for you to join. The first is the brain cancer group and, if your dad's brain tumour is a glioblastoma multiforme brain tumour, there is a glioblastoma group which you could join. Both groups are great places to ask questions and share experiences.
Another group that you might benefit from joining is the family and friends group which is a safe place to share your emotions with others who have a family member living with cancer.
To join any or all of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your dad's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
x
