My friend had endometrial ca 4 years ago, told it was low grade, type1. Had hysterectomy plus removal nearby lymph nodes followed by radiation therapy. Feb 2021, had internal exam by Gynae and advised all clear. Early April went to GP as feeling bloated, breathless and overly tired. Urgent ultrasound showed large tumour, followed by CT scan. CT shows multiple small tumours and one larger plus two lymph nodes affected. Two days ago removed 9.7L ascites as outpatient. Initial results show cancer. Full results expected today...with Ca type. She is under the oncology team at our closest regional hospital, (in NZ) so far been treated as an outpatient. Yesterday advised she will likely be offered chem but this prob wont start for 3 weeks as need to confer with relevant specialists re treatment options.
I am happy to be her main support person ( she has no family capable of supporting her). She is happy for me to look up medical stuff ( i have a medical background...but not re cancer).
Would be good to hear from others re metastatic ( secondary) peritoneal cancer.
