Hi all,

was told by consultant can not operate, as it has gone to her adrenal gland,  my mum asked what this terminal he was adamant it was not and definitely treatable, he did not say what type of lung cancer it is . Or. What grade , he said her other biopsies are still being worked on for other tests and she will have an oncologist apt when they get the results of these,  he did say there are lots of treatments she can have chemo/ radio/ immune therapy/  new drug trials,  it was a telephone consultation, so I was not here to ask lots of questions,  has anyone else been told this about there lung cancer,

just some advice and help would

be greatly appreciates

(my mum is 66 fit and wel  was running around looking after my 4 year old until the date of biopsies and scans , she went to doctors due to loosing a stone in weight but no other sysmptoms ) ,

thank you to u all for reading my story x

  • Hi  and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your mum’s diagnosis.

I was diagnosed way back in 1999 with an incurable blood cancer and so far we have been able to find the next treatment so let’s look for a route to be found for your mum.

A cancer diagnosis in the family can be challenging in so many ways but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer support journey will help you navigate this difficult time.

The Community is organised into cancer specific support groups and I see you have joined our supportive Lung Cancer group as this will be a good place to connect with patients and families navigating the same type of cancer treatment journey.

To go to the group just click on the link above then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

When it comes to the practical challenges of supporting someone you may benefit from talking with others caring for family and friends so do check out our Family and friends and supporting someone with incurable cancer group groups as you will connect with others supporting family and friends through their cancer journey.

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers can be found on our Online Information and Support Section.

    All the very best
