Hello, I’m new to the group and I’m sitting up at 1am very sad, feeling lonely, worried and frightened.

My husband  was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the duodenum  in February. He’s having chemotherapy 24/7 which is making him quite poorly at times. He’s had a good couple of weeks but the last few days after his 3rd cycle he’s gone downhill. we have both been very emotional tonight as he feels he’s declining in health.
I have 3 daughters and although they’re in their twenties, youngest being twenty, I’m worried about them and how they’ll cope. It’s hard trying to be strong for them all. I’m just having a very weak moment and need to vent!
Does anyone else feel the same?

  • Hi , sorry to hear about the challenges you, your husband and the family are dealing with.

I had a completely different cancer journey so my experience is not what you at the moment but you may find talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer support journey will help you navigate this challenging time.

I see you have posted before and you have joined one of our support groups....... can I recommend you copy and paste this post in both our Carers only and supporting someone with incurable cancer group groups as you will connect with others walking the same journey supporting family and friends through their cancer journey.

To join/go to a group just click on the links above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens (where you have not joined the group)

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

    ((hugs))
