Hi
i am to this community in sheer desperation. My wife has stage 3 breast cancer, she has one breast removed but during her first chemo treatment she had a really bad reaction to one of the multi drugs which put her seriously ill in hospital ,for 2 weeks. It turns out that the same drug is in the Oxford vaccine and she has already been turned away from two vaccination centre who said they could not as inter the jab because of a lack of medical support if there was a problem. My wife already has 5 clots on her lungs and recent news suggests there may be a problem and under 30s will be offered alternative vaccines. So my wife has been told she should receive Pfizer in a hospital setting. However our local GP surgery says it can’t arrange that so has sent he to another site to have the Oxford vaccine ...... this has really caused my wife distress as she knows it’s not right. But the cancer ward, Oncology dept, the government help line have all said the same thing.... ‘It is the GPS responsibility’. and they cannot help us. The hospital in which she is currently receiving further chemo and radiotherapy is giving. Second Pfizer jabs all this week but she is not allowed int9 that system!!
So has anyone got some advise I simply don’t want to add to my wife’s health issues by letting her have a jab which will cause problems but I have nowhere left to turn.
Hi and a warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read all the trials and tribulations your wife is having to go through to get the correct type of vaccine.
The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support. If you copy and paste your question about the coronavirus vaccine from here into a new post there you may well connect with someone who has had a similar experience.
To get support for yourself you might like to consider joining the carers only group which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your emotions.
To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your wife's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
x
