Hello, I have recently tested positive for Brca 1 gene mutation, I am here as I am looking to gain insight and comfort from people who actually know what I am about to go through.
I lost my sister to bc 2 yrs ago in November, hence I was genetically tested,

The thing is there is no question at all on what I have decided to do, but I would love to have inside knowledge from you all and create a support network for myself as no one really understands in my social group, but how can they as it’s not happen ending to them.
I am 43 soon and I am going to be having a hysterectomy in the next few months and a double mastectomy with no reconstruction ( which lots can’t seem to understand)

I need to protect myself as much as I can, I have an 8yr old son who I need to be here for, so this decision was easy for me and I may struggle emotionally without my breasts but I’ll be here!

nice to be here and I hope to get to know a few of you soon. Thank you for reading my story. Slight smile
