Hi I’m supporting my friend who has just decided to discontinue palliative chemo  treatment for their incurable cancer. Just want to be sure I’m doing my best and also looking after myself as it’s upsetting. Anyone else doing similar?

  • Hi  and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your friends diagnosis and decision to stop palliative chemo.

Thank you so much. For some reason he won’t get involved with Macmillan although I know from previous experience how helpful that is. I see you have a lot of experience. Do you think I should just accept this? X

  • Yes I have years of experience on my cancer journey and Macmillan have been very helpful in so many ways but it may not be for him...... but this could also be a male pride thing.

I have an incurable blood cancer but have not been in the position of having to specifically arrange end of life care.

Do connect in with the above groups and do call the helpline as you can talk with trained staff who are dealing with this issues everyday.
