Hello everyone,
I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma and am recovering from surgery done 3 weeks ago (wide local incision). I am now waiting to hear if I will need to have chemotherapy and won’t know that yet for another couple of weeks! Feeling very anxious about this prospect due to all the usual worries and fears associated with this treatment - financial support, loss of hair, nausea to name but a few. I am wondering if there is anyone on here who is feeling the same and would like to connect. I don’t want to burden my family and friends with my troubles and feel it would help to talk to others who have been or are going through this too! Thanks, Kate
Hi and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your BC diagnosis.
A cancer diagnosis brings many questions but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer treatment journey will help you navigate this challenging time.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Hi Kate I'm new too I'm having to have chemo just as a precaution. I'm seeing my oncologist on Wednesday and must admit I'm so worried more about the nausea and hair loss then anything else. I have so many questions to ask. But will if feeling well enough post my journey on hear. Wishing you the best let me know how things go for you.
Hi, thank you for your response. I am very worried about the hair loss and all the other side effects. I wish you all the very best with your treatment and I keep telling myself to fast forward 5 years when hopefully all this will be behind me. I haven’t had the result of the Oncotype test yet. Can I ask if this is what you had and if so did your result fall in the “for discussion” category? Many thanks, Kate
