I’ve generally been a slightly over weight but healthy girl in the last year of my 30’s. I have try to live by an attitude of I can do anything and I am stubborn... if you say I can’t do it I will work harder... well first round of Chemo absolutely grounded me and feeling a bit scared. I’ve got a cancer that is not coming in the under 50’s / 60’s. It’s presses on the vesicles to the stomach that give me shooting pains and needs to be shrunk before operation... which is now I’m finding more commonly being described as inoperable at the moment.
starting treatment last Thursday... So I think I’m ready... I’m tough I’ve got support.
I’m on 3 Chemo drugs they said they are going to hit it hard but I’m young healthy. The side effect conversations go on... I get to the room pick myself a seat in a corner out of the way.
-first chemo starts out fine (2hours) towards the end it’s like I’m seeing stars and can’t stop my eyes twitching first reaction and a shot.
-second chemo again starts out fine room is filling up I head to the loo and a lady has sat in front of me with her drip stand in front of me so mine goes across my body... I’m ok but room is heating up, beeping starts conversations, I start to feel unwell, call a nurse over it’s ok just keep breathing... it gets worse I feel like I can’t breath. Bit of a panic and into a room. It’s not sure if this was a reaction or a panic attack... or both. I’m on the spare glucose drip decision made not to complete the bit left.
-third chemo one to take away after discussions it was decided to hook me up to the pump for 46hours.
-made it through the night feeling nauseous husband on hand with pills... rings the nurse to ask if he should make me eat! Replied with a no
-not eating much Friday managed some bits sleep had my white blood cell ingection. Not great but coping went to bed and woke with pain above my right breast, short of breath... being sick... wanting to be ok but a bit scared. This resulted in advice to go to A&E.
- so many discussions on what’s gone on, the list is long reactions to this that and the other... needing to eat, changing medications. Pain and breathing finaly under wraps. Another night until the nausea is better.
-A what if conversation about resuscitation and if this gets worse... needing a plan in place.
-next round starting a week tomorrow... will they keep up the strong level... can I do this? Will the nausea go away!
how I got hear...
... long story short I’ve not been well since January (usless GP’ ‘eat through the pain’ leading to jaundice) a lot of tests, a stent fitted to open up my bile duct...
conversations of a lump on my pancreas that could be a lot of things...
biopsy that’s couldn’t reach the lump, pancreatitis and hospital...
conversations of it being likely to be cancer with the specialist...
a wait for a second biopsy... and results.
Starting conversations about fertility and freezing eggs with treatment starting in 2 weeks to finding out that recommendation is to get treatment started in 5 days.
