My husband got sick last year with pneumonia and then he got covid. They noticed his lymph nodes were enlarged and said they'd keep an eye on them. He went back to work after 8 weeks but he was still struggling and by january this year he had lost 5 stone in weight. We finally got drs to run tests, and during a appointment for a blood test he collapsed. They admitted him there and then (lucky we was in the hosp) and he was diagnosed the next day as having stage 4 hodgkins lymphoma. He's been in hosp 5 weeks now and has had 1 round of chemo and was due to start his 2nd round today. He's suffered 1 infection after the other since being admitted and has currently got a chest infection. Dr rang me this morning to say that his 2nd round won't start now til later in the week and it will now be same chemo but lower dose. He's been given morphine for pain but today they've stopped that as he is having very bad hallucinations. He is 52 and im 48. We've been married 28 years this year and have 2 adult children. They no longer live with us and I'm rattling round this house with our dog. I suffer with depression and anxiety and can't leave the house on my own. Our son stays with me every weekend. Sorry, I'm rattling on... I just feel so useless and i don't know what I'm supposed to do

  • Hi  and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your husbands HL diagnosis.

A blood cancer diagnosis brings many questions and having been diagnosed back in 1999 with a rare type of stage 4 NHL I total get this journey. Blood cancer treatment can be a total rollercoaster and infections resulting in delays rather normal.

The Community is organised into support groups so can I recommend you join our supportive Hodgkin lymphoma group as this will be a good place to connect with patients and families navigating the same type of cancer journey.

To join a group just click on the link above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

I will keep an eye open for you ((hugs))

Hello Worriedchelle I am new and scared, diagnosed with breastcancer for third time, waiting for results after all scans. Seeing surgeon to discuss next steps April 1st.

I feel lost and scared, I hear you and feel for you. I am 69 and a grandma for the first time, living alone waiting for restrictions to lift so I can meet with my grandson... they live 1 1/2 hours away...

I keep on telling myself one moment, one day, one night at the time....I am afraid of what I will be told on April 1.

i keep you in my prayers
