Hiya I am new to this forum, my main has been the kidney one see my profile for more details if ur interested...lol
I am an upbeat, a softy with a good sense of humour, but I get my bad days too.
Having a week of appointments this week. Thankfully all out of the way before my chauffeur hubby goes off climbing to Italy.
I am 64 years of age going on 21. Hobbies are lots from watercolours to needlework and knitting etc. Avid PC gamer, belonging to a great alliance. Main problem with most is my energy levels..can do about an hour then need to lie down. Days are hit and miss for walking my border collie Phoebe. Managed a mile and a half the other week..was well chuffed.
My rule is take each day as it comes. Literally. I wake up, make my list of what I want to do that day, housey stuff, walk, rest relax...all go on my list. If I do one thing it's a good day.
I have other health issues too. Diabetes 2, thyroid, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, rare glaucoma which I've had since i was 18, my eldest now blind with, gastric stuff makes me feel nauseous some days and clinical depression.
It's hard. But I am blessed living in the country, wonderful family who give me 100% support. So it's only right I given them smiles and love and not gripes and groans...I am good at masking ...hahaha
I hope you realise i am not taking mine and all your incurable cancers flippantly. I have mental and physical ups and downs. And this last 18 months has been incredibly trying. But I am still here.
I look forward to getting to know u all. I am here to be supportive and of course receive support too.
My journey from nurses, consultants, family, friends, macmillan, maggies, and my kidney cancer forum has been invaluable.
I wish everyone here a wonderful day, huge hugs and much love
Hi Fleabane, and a warm welcome to our little forum, but so sorry you have to be here, you post will resonate with many of the amazing people on here, especially the ups and downs, co-morbidities and your wonderful attitude, I am sorry to hear about your son, I know from experience how much harder things are when it's your kids health.
You will find the ladies and guys here a very friendly and supportive bunch, we may have different diagnosees, but we share the same prognosis, and understand what it's like to live with it there are many who love art & crafts, even a dedicated thread,
It's a busy day for me, so catch up later.
Eddie xx
Hi again, and thank you, it.s nice to meet you too, and hope your day was an enjoyable one too, I read your profile, and understand the slightly surreal feel to life you sometimes have, i find l unintentionally just switch off, maybe it's just the fatigue and tirednes or that many things you once thought important, you realise are not anymore
Lovely to hear you have a border collie, l love dogs, jack Russell's are my choice, and 5 cats as well, there are a few laies here who will be very interested in this, and it's good to know you have a wonderful family to support you and four kids, fab, as do I, 3 girls and a boy along with 12 grandkids, who brighten up the dearest days
We, my kids mum and I are heading home after a wonderful week, and a wedding in the Isles of Scilly, with most of my adult family, we are both fighting cancer, so treatment, scans and consultations for us both, for 3 days, then hopefully we can get back to the Scilly's for another week
l don't know where the other's are, but I'm sure they'll be along soon.

Hi, Fleabane, it is a pleasure to meet you but I’m sure we both would have liked to meet elsewhere! Like Eddie, I too read your profile and recognise a lot of what you say that I do myself. I too am lucky to have a supportive loving family and as you say we don’t want to be doom and gloom in front of them and I am positive more than you and me have masks and the automatic smile mode when someone asks “How are you?” Unfortunately two years ago my husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer for which major surgery was successful but at the end of last year he was diagnosed with bladder cancer that needed a small op to remove tumours followed by 6 weeks of chemo which he has now finished and waiting for a scan.
Im sure you will get lots of replies from the gang in the coming days, they are probably still getting over their Wild weekends! lol! I look forward to getting to know you better and hear more about your hobbies. I took up crochet before Christmas for the first time, although I can knit and sew, I had never tried crochet and I’m loving it, especially the company at the class in the local library on a Wednesday. You said you lived in the country but I’m wondering is it this country? Take care talk soon.
Love Annette x
Hi Fleabane,
Welcome to the forum. I see you love animals from your profile. I too love my animals and have four dogs. One of the main things that keep me going is walking my dogs in the woods near my house. I use this as me time and to try and destress. I would have chickens if our garden was bigger. Anyway welcome.

Hiya Annette...so sorry your husband is having a rough time, fingers crossed for good results.
This week has been full on hospital appointments, but thankfully nearly done. Timing brilliant because my hubby, my chauffeur is off climbing in Italy next week. Not bad for a 70 year old, but it's his passion and given up many trips this last 18 months.
I started knitting a fair isle cardigan before Christmas but my concentration levels a little low. So like u I am having another go at crocheting. I did a shawl many years ago, but don't really know the pattern language so have started granny squares to make a cardigan...hahaha
Anyway, ty for the lovely welcome. The affirmation words at the end are wonderful.
Hugest hugs.
Ty for you welcome Lee. 4 dogs, u must have patience to train 4 dogs lol...I like to walk in the woods too, but at the moment my longest walk has been a mile and a half. That was a one off lol. My usual walk is the 5 fields, 1st to 3rd are throw the ball field, the 4th goes down into a wooded Dell and sparkling brook, then 5th is the lambing field.back onto lane, good splash for Phoebe in the brook, then home..isn't far..I can't do it everyday..lol..
So what type of dogs do u have..still getting over walking 4...haha
Anyhow, ty again for the warm greeting
Hugs
Hi Fleabane, That is great your husband is well and fit enough to go climbing, good for him!
Also good for you walking a mile and a half, I can’t walk very far at all now. I am on permanent double elbow crutches. However before my diagnosis my friend and I used to walk 15 miles on a summers day and also went on weekend walking holidays. I really miss it.
Good for you going back to crochet. You seem to be able to make almost anything from Granny Squares. I’m not too good at reading the patterns yet, it is like double Dutch, between that and them mixing US.& UK terms it is not easy. I have learned a lot from Utube. There are tutorials to talk you through things. Have you seen them? You should also pop into the “Hobby & Craft “ discussions here on the Forum! I’m also doing Granny Squares at the minute, I have put a picture in that Thread. See what you think of everyone’s Hobbies etc! They are diverse and amazing!

Good morning Fleabane, your walk sounds so amazing. We are lucky to live in areas where we have green spaces to walk our hounds. I have small dogs, two long hair chihuahuas, a yorkie and a rescue dog from Romania who is the best behaved out of them all. When I grew up I used to have a horse so would go the farm nearly every day. One day I tried to get the chickens in before they were ready, I didn't realise at a certain time they took themselves to bed . I must of looked a right idiot chasing them everywhere.
Lee 2 x. There is an original Lee on here.
Hi Annette!
I bought a vintage bedspread made of granny squares, which I love! But a couple of squares are falling apart, so I'm needing to replace them.....I'll know who to come to for advice now!
When I was a teenager, I made a waistcoat from granny squares. It was quite easy, as there was no shaping involved. I must admit, I prefer knitting to crochet.
