My GP just rang to 'check that I was alright after the bad news on Friday.'

What bad news? Says I.

Oh shit, says she.

Anyway, it appears that the biopsy they took during my bronchoscopy at the beginning of the month has identified primary lung cancer, rather than the expected kidney cancer metastases.

So that's two primary cancers I have now, kidney and lung. An all you can eat buffet!

Cancer is very determined to get me!

I don't suppose it makes much difference. I'm not having any treatment at the moment, and I probably wouldn't bother with anything unless there was a really, seriously good chance of it working.

sorry to hear this, especially how you found out! Good to meet another BOGOF Member- I’ve got two primaries too, lung and kidney. The good news is I’m told this is good news and better than mets! I started on immunotherapy which was for the kidney but in the US was being used for lung, the idea being it might help both. It did well on kidney and a little bit on the lung but then my kidney function wouldn’t play. So then it was chemo for the lung as this was more determined than the kidney so don’t rule out treatment as the way ahead seems to be more of the double whammies! Good luck

Hi Stuart,

That is a blow but hopefully your stoicism will serve you well. GP must have kicked herself, but at least she was ringing to check up on you which not all GPs would do.

Thanks Sal, we are very lucky to have our GP. At our last place, in Kent, the surgery was always staffed by locums, and you'd never see the same doctor twice.

Oh wow..that is news we don't want to hear. I have the feeling you not very shocked?? It is may worth trying immuno therapy?? I wish you all the best! Pet

Thanks Pet. Not really shocked to be honest. I don't think it makes any difference to the eventual outcome, and I reconciled myself to that a long time ago.

I've had seven rounds of atezolizumab but it didn't work. I'm not keen to go back into treatment to be honest. I'm feeling pretty good, and we have travel plans.
