Lovely morning chit chat thread - September

That looks very beautiful Chelle. I have had another few days in Hospital with a blood transfusion. Hopefully this time it will raise the blood levels and I don’t have to go back again. Christine flew in Friday and can stay and work from here for the next week . wishing everyone a pleasant evening and a good start to the new week. Big gentle hug from Angie and Lilly xxx

Isn’t it a pity that Lilly can’t join you in hospital- the healing effect would be enormous!

I have surgery on Friday and before that I have to go in and give blood just in case I may need an infusion- all very strange !

Good luck with your surgery on Friday KrsiPy. How long are you going to be in the hospital for? 

Hopefully will only be a day case, but I have to take stuff in for an overnight. I am in at 0700 so hope to escape that day!!

It’s “only” a hernia but has to be long incision rather than keyhole.  My wife is not pleased that the instructions are to not lift anything heavier than a kettle for two weeks!! I just need to see how long I can milk it!!! ( not the tea that is ).

Best of luck for your surgery on Friday KrisPy. Loads of treatments etc going on at present. Hope your bloods will behave better than mine did. Now a place for Lilly at my side would have been great, but when all is said and done she is better of at home driving my daughter potty xx big hug to you all from

Hi Angie, so sorry to hear that you're on hospital again for a blood transfusion. I hope this one does the trick this time. You deserve a break Angie. You'll be happy to see Christine and she you. 

My bloods are very poor constantly now but unfortunately I can't have a blood transfusion because I have another rare disease called haemochromatosis which is colloquially known as iron overload. My body doesn't deal with iron so it builds up therefore if I were to get a blood transfusion my blood would have even more of an iron, content.

Hemochromatosis is a genetic disorder that causes the body to absorb and store too much iron from food, leading to a toxic build up of iron. The body cannot naturally get rid of extra iron, so it stores the excess in vital organs and tissues, mostly the liver (I've been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver), heart, pancreas, and joints. As for the risks, if left untreated, the toxic iron buildup can cause severe organ damage, leading to conditions like liver cirrhosis, diabetes, and heart failure. 

So I'm always between a rock and a hard place.Treatment to remove some of the iron is through what's called iron chelation. It's done through a course of tablets that believe it or not have severe side effects, one of which is damage to the optic nerve so I have to get that checked periodically. 

Thing is we all know someone who's worse, don't we?
