I'm glad you had a wonderful time KrisPy, and huge congrats on the fundraising amount. Events like that are amazing, and really help bring so much awareness, and support. We have a similar cycling event in Columbus called Pelotonia every year that raises money through rider sponsorship. One of my sisters and friends rode on behalf of my own battle a few years ago. Be sure to take it easy today and get plenty of rest if you need it!

It was a wonderful event, so much warmth and love about - you could feel it everywhere you went and to everyone you spoke to. It is quite humbling to see how much support is out there for us and I was really taken aback by the amount people so generously gave.  Sir Chris Hoy is quite an inspiration.

My family are already talking about next years event!  

It is so nice to hear that there is something similar happening that your family and friends could take part in.  The event I did was on static bikes which were linked to the internet and a whole group of people around the world joined in.

I had the privilege of meeting and riding with Sophie Capewell who won a gold in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games- she was certainly the one who got me over the line of 15km (that’s 9.3 miles)

The only downside was the razor thin racing saddles on the bikes!!

I saw the event on the news, and there was a segment where they were chatting to people on static bike and I did wonder if you were amongst them. It was emotional watching Chris Hoy speak at the end of his race, he was very emotional himself, and when his wife finished the race and he was there to greet her, was just a beautiful moment.

My start was a bit later so I missed the cameras- but then managed to get into an Instagram reel that featured Sophie Capewell who was riding next to me….

Sir Chris used the word “joyous” and it was, so much love and warmth on the day.

Hi Chelle, how is your new home coming on. Have you reached the stage yet where you actually feel at home and no longer a trespasser in a foreign house?

I’m so sorry Patrick I have only just seen your post! Yes we are very settled! Absolutely love the bungalow, the garden and the village. We have so many things yet to explore! We have a palace ruins in the village from the 12th century. One of Henry the 8th frequent visits. We haven’t had time to even look yet! There are so many walks for our pup Alfie. We are on the bottom of the South Downs, so the walks are very beautiful. Behind our home we have a big meadow where we have been walking Alfie. We thought it was just a big circle, but discovered a path through a couple of days ago, and the view was breathtaking. Feeling very blessed, and determined to discover more.
