Good morning everyone, and welcome to August 2026!
The chit chat thread is a space to talk about your day. From the weather, to appointments, to food. Anything that happens in your day to day life. A good space to check in with one another.
So good morning everyone, how’s your day?
Rose, I'm absolutely devastated by your news of your demise. I reached out to you when you joined and your private messages to me, one of which where you mentioned that your breast cancer has changed in an unexpected and very bad way shocked me because I was looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship from a fellow resident of our island.
I will always remember our friendship and I hope that your family will surround you with love through your journey in the End of life care.

Good afternoon to you all,
I had my appointment yesterday at the plastic surgery clinic to get the dressings changed. The surgeon was very happy with the healing so far. Skin graft has nestled in very well no sign of any infection. Sadly my face is very, very bruised, but that is apparently normal. Looks like I had 10 rounds with Mike Thyssen and lost .
I hope you are all doing ok and appointments, tests, scans and everything else will turn out fine. Have a good day and ad much of an enjoyable weekend as it is possible. Raining here at present, so Lilly decided to come inside and have a cosy nap. Not a bad idea, come to think of it. Big warm hug to you all. Love from
Angie and Lilly xxxx
Good morning all
I do hope that last night’s sleep was restful and beneficial. Mine was so-so again, waking in a sweat , popping off to the loo - about normal for those of us on hormone therapy!
I am looking forward to a day of rest after helping move my daughter from her rental back into the parental home - the nest has filled right back up again!!!
I think I am also beginning to feel a little anxious about my forthcoming blood tests and oncologist appointment- seems to be a normal reaction from posts I have read but it still weighs heavy on the mind…
Have a lovely day everyone,
KrisPy
Morning Patrick, I do hope it will fade away soon, my whole right side is black and blue from eyebrow to my chin. Not exactly a Barbie look . How are you and your loved ones are getting on? You must be exhausted by the heat. My relations are saying it’s just getting too much. We are more fortunate here, but windy again and had rain on and off over the last few days. The lowest we have had at night was 7 degrees a couple of nights back. I actually had my heating on for a couple of hours at night. My daughter, who came home from London, loved the cooler weather after weeks of heat. Hope you have a lovely Sunday xx love
Angie and Lilly xx
I hope everyone is enjoying the weather we are currently having, and not struggling in the heat! 33 degrees is forecast for today here, much too hot for me, so I won’t be up to much. How is it where you are?
Good morning Chelle
It’s a lovely morning here in Birmingham but the temperature is projected to be 36 today so yes we will be not doing a lot!!
My daughter is staying with us plus her dog so whilst we have enjoyed having a walk together we have to pick our times - it is far too hot to go out with the dog during the afternoon.
Our house is set north to south so we have some back rooms which are staying cool luckily.
Not sure that twice a day watering of the hanging baskets is enough!!!
Have a lovely day, stay hydrated!!
KrisPy
Morning all, well I am not enjoying this weather. 36 here today as well as also live in the West Midlands KrisPy. Greenthumb came yesterday for our summer lawn treatment , what a waste of time, as we don't have a lawn just dried brown crispy stuff. They have recommended when the weather gets cooler that they aerate (can't spell) and scarify and then top soil and seed. This sounds great all for the small price of £500. I don't know how I managed to live in South Africa, I used to lie out and bake in the sun. Now I opt for the shade. That is probably why I had skin cancer. Stay cool and hydrated
.

I thought it was bad here today, it reached 32, it’s unbearable.

out little dog is only a year old, and is full of energy! Hubby walks him at 630 in the morning, but by late afternoon he’s keen to go again. Trying to hold off until 8pm but he’s not happy!
brown grass here too! And everyday you hear of a fire nearby. There was a van fire at the start of the week that caught the verge on fire, that then spread into the forest! The road is still closed now. Then a couple of days ago a house in a street behind us caught fire. The daughter had a candle burning in her bedroom and it caught the curtains on fire. They have lost everything but thankfully no one hurt.
Think it will be slightly cooler here tomorrow but no rain forecast for a while yet!
