  • Last night I was feeling lazy, and decided to raid the freezer for a veggie burger. Got the new potatoes and broccoli cooking, then started heating the burger.....and wandered off to look at my phone. The result? Totally carbonised burger, and a kitchen that stinks of burnt remains!

    Moral....never leave your cooker unattended!

    Ooops!

  • Hi Kate,  that would definitely be me, I am not a great cook, my husband, Jon is way better than me.  He cooks everything from scratch, Im too impatient.  What did you end up eating?  Have you got the beef ragu recipe Stella.  I am making a chicken curry tonight,  it is sort of spicy and sweet at the same time.

  • I get easily distracted nowadays. This could definitely happen to me. Sometimes I get busy cleaning up whilst cooking and end up making a mess instead.

Hope this link works. It is similar to my BBC good food one. But mine is behind pay wall. X

  • Hi Leelaloo

I just ate the broccoli and potatoes. Not the most exciting meal!

  • Hummus!  However you prefer to spell it!

I like Hummus and have made it a few times, but it was never as yummy as a pot from the supermarket.

Quite a faff to make too, especially if you try and remove the chick pea skins.

I had another go earlier in the week.  My best batch yet.  I soaked the chick peas for ages this time and they cooked quicker and it turned into a bit of a mush so there wasn't any skins to remove.

I'm not sure it tasted like the supermarket ones, but at least I know there was only chick peas, lime juice, salt and tahini in mine. If I keep eating it my taste will adjust to it more, right?!

  • Hi Mmum

I usually add olive oil, and garlic, to my hummus. It mashes more easily, but maybe not the most sociable thing to eat!

  • I love hummus but have never tried to make it myself, and I love garlic.  We have garlic most nights.  Which is okay for me as I have zero sense of smell since covid 4 years ago.

  • I am going to make beef massaman curry next week. Do you make them in Germany?
I am severely allergic to canned coconut milk. Try to use powdered coconut but it seems to upset my tummy too. Any other idea?

But I am fine with Thai food in a restaurant.
