Hi Weeglesga woman07c553  insomnia is awful. I do not cope well with limited sleep, it causes me to have migraines. When I first started my hormone treatment I couldn’t sleep at all! Awake all night long, so my gp prescribed sleeping tablets. They are only a short term fix, but he then prescribed me amitriptlyne which thankfully does help me to sleep. For me no other natural remedies worked so I am grateful for my meds!
I'm not sure about tips but you have my sympathy. I've had numerous periods of sleep loss over the last couple of years and I have tried many things. The most effective thing is to stop worrying about it.
My sleep has varied according to the dosage of steroids at any time. I've kept my cancer team informed and they have always tried to reduce them as quickly as possible.
I used to get up during the night and just do things. However my family complained that I was too noisy. When I was still working, I used to log on and clear my emails, delaying sending anything til 8am. This worked well as I could get back to bed after a couple of hours and I was fine and quiet throughout. Now retired from work, I tend to read, including these threads at various times. I usually get back to sleep for another hour or two. My tablet is silent to use, so I don't disturb anyone. For me the important bit is a distraction to avoid worrying about not sleeping. When I'm wide awake in the morning, I just get up. Right now, I'm getting about 5 hours sleep in two batches and I'm coping ok on it.
Just know that you're not alone, lots going through the same issues.
Big hugs.
Sandy.
For those that do find themselves awake in the early hours, you wild other members in the awake-and-up-all-night page. Might help to chat to others there that also cannot sleep.
Thank you , I think the nxt time I’m at the doctor I’ll mention it as I think I’ve got myself in a routine now getting up
