Hi everyone, had to ring our surgery on Wednesday morning because of these awful episodes of dizziness and associated sickness and I spoke with my GP that afternoon who said she'd write a script for tablets for vertigo. Next afternoon, I did a little hedge cutting then picked the tablets up, got home, made dinner for us and an hour later another episode started and lasted an hour and a half.
On Friday morning we went to our son's in Dundalk, left early afternoon because of the high winds. Home safely and a couple of hours later, I had another episode of dizziness, no sickness.
Next morning, Saturday, the winds were still very bad and the news was full of damage reports so I didn't go outside. At about 6 pm I felt really dizzy again and had a little dinner but I couldn't eat much and Mrs Tvman advised me to go to bed but half an hour later I vomited and vomited and vomited a few more times. Get the picture? Eventually I fell asleep for a couple of hours.
This is now the early hours of Sunday morning and I've pain from retching so much. I'm not feeling great but at least the dizziness and sickness have gone. I'm definitely going to ring our surgery tomorrow and possibly the emergency cancer unit number again. I desperately hope I get through the day without being ill again but I'm not confident of that.

Oh Tvman, that sounds very debilitating. Did your GP make this diagnosis without seeing you? If so, that’s just not good enough in my opinion! I had something similar several years ago now and was also given tablets for vertigo which made things a lot worse! It was also put down as a few other things until Eventually, It was diagnosed as Labarinthitis, which is an inner ear problem that affects your balance. I was given Stematil (?) tablets and they helped in a matter of hours! Since then, I keep a box in the house. It is maybe worth asking them to check for this! You mentioned you were cutting a hedge, please don’t use any power hedge trimmers because this could be very dangerous if an episode comes on.
Please let me know what the cancer team say! I think they will get to the bottom of this for you. At least I hope they will! Take care!

That sounds absolutely awful Tvman. As others have said , you have to keep pestering the doctors to find out what is causing this. Hope today is not too bad for you. Sending you gentle hugs x
Hi all, thanks for your support and concern. The instructions for suspected vertigo that are on the box say to take 2 to 3 times a day when required! What does that mean, when required? When I'm having the dizziness and sickness? I got them on Friday late afternoon and since then the GP surgery and the pharmacy have been closed. Tomorrow morning (Monday) I'm going to ring both the GP surgery and the pharmacy to see if I can get an answer. I'm tempted to take 2 or 3 today, in fact I think I'll take 1 now and 1 later. Can't do me any harm for one day. Can it?

Hi TVman, I suffer from a syndrome called BPPV benign, postural , paroxysmal vertigo.Itd very common and it comes at times with months of 'gaps' between episodes, you can actually " fix" it yourself with an exercise called the Epley manoeuvre, though it's not pleasant as it actually needs you to bring on the symptoms.
Have a Google and let me know if you think it could be it.
