Whatever we can plan, do and enjoy, it gets us away from our day-to-day routine. Whether near or far, let's share our experiences, snapshots etc. How did we manage? Insurance? Help at home and abroad...

Are you planning your trip to USA next year for the World Cup?

  • Hi Stella, sorry to jump in here but I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is no. Have you heard the scandalous prices for tickets? Also, the group matches aren't being played in the one venue. Some group matches are being played over 1000 miles away from other venues!

Tickets for the last world cup final were less than £500, this world cup final has a minimum price of £3000 per ticket. FIFA has been inundated with complaints about ticket prices, will anything change? I very much doubt it.

PS How is the healing process going with respect to your face and eyes?

  • Hi Tvman

I think everything is much more expensive in U.S. For example, I am lucky enough to win the ballot to get two tickets for Wimbledon next year. One ticket for quarterfinals day is £225. US open is around $500-1000 just for an afternoon or evening session. It is far more expensive but the availability is better.

I am healing up well from the cat scratch but not really bruised from 3 attempts the anaesthetist made to access my vein.

How is Mrs doing? Is she mobile yet? How is your vertigo?

  • Hi Stella, I've been searching for your post in which you asked me about Mrs Tvman, I knew you'd asked me but I couldn't find it. Until now!

She's doing well, occasionally not using a crutch but still has a pronounced limp. She's been limping for about 3 years so maybe it's difficult to stop?

She's able to do much more around the house and is currently emptying kitchen cupboards as we're getting a new kitchen installed starting on January 5th, the same day as you have your op. The kitchen is due to take 2 to 3 weeks to install. We have a double garage which is almost full of kitchen units, the rest consists of gardening equipment, tools and a mountain of plant food, treatments and compost etc.

Hope you're keeping positive Stella although I wouldn't expect anything else.

  • Hi everyone. I have just spent 5 glorious days on a cruise ship where we visited Bruges. The ship was decorated beautifully for Christmas with numerous Christmas trees, Christmas cake displays and a ginger bread village. Bruges was as beautiful as ever, but luckily it didn’t feel quite as busy as it did last year.

  • The ship is so so glamorous, fantastically decorated. You must have taken loads and loads of photos, must have been hard to stop Grinning

I think I counted 12 plus the skipper on the boat in Bruges! How are you going to top that at Christmas time? Or maybe you can't!

All in all it looks to have been a wonderful trip.

  • Not one tree up in my house this year, so it was lovely to enjoy them all on board.
