Morning all, there will be no new chat thread for April....

Haha, April Fools, here is the new chat thread for April!

If you want to catch up on March's chat you can click here but it will be closed for replies.

The chit chat thread is for:

"Daily Life chit chat for bloods, scans, appointments, going shopping, cutting grass, reading, watching some thing decent on TV - whatever your day has in store for you. That is daily life!

Even having a laugh, that is a normal life, and we all have it.

If you have a special topic please start a new thread so people that wish to see it can, and can comment."

  • Hi Eddie

I know this will appear a long way down the thread so sorry folks that this is out of sync but you are all chatting away and I'm way behind!

I know what you mean about fear of falling. It is a real concern and does stop us all from venturing out in the winter. The mobility issues I had winter 23-4 made me very aware of how tough life could be and I was so thankful this winter it was just a bit of limping and stairs that made it hard but I also think twice if I want to go somewhere to practice my walking and decided to join the National Trust so I would be somewhere people are rather than the river walks etc I used to do.

I have one of those chemo alert cards - being a card carrying cancer person turned out to be a real thing! - but also its on my hospital notes. The first time I had to do a dash across I had a call from the chemo unit saying they had already rang the hospital to expect me as my bloods had come through and I needed attention urgently. After that I now ring the hospital to tell them myself and then go to the desk and tell them I am immune compromised and they bring me straight through into critical care to be isolated. I hope everyone else can find a way to get the system they need - it is there - its just sometimes knowing how to ask.

I am glad you have never suffered from depression. I have had situational depression after several deaths in my family so know how difficult it can be. Counselling helped me to get through it and find ways to enjoy life again.

I can see from your posts that you have a great family around you. That makes a huge difference. I hope you've had a fantastic holiday and get some well needed rest.

As you say no regrets - its about being true to yourself and loving the people who matter.

    x Thea

  • High Thea, well done my friend,  still getting out for walks, I know it can seem daunting at times, especially when the weather makes things more hazardous or your on unknown terrain, but for me, as well as the health benefits, just being somewhere and the freedom it gives you, it can turn a dark day into a good one.

The chemo alert card system, seems a wonderful idea, and I'm so glad it works so well for you, sadly I  don't think it is universal, as some Friends on the forum still have to wait far too long to be seen, hopefully that will improve.

I'm sorry you've lost family as well  Thea, though good to hear counselling has helped you find the strength to make a new life for yourself, I am blessed to have the family I have, and thank you, the holiday was wonderful, I'm not long home , after 8 hours on the road, I'm knackered, so resting up,

    Eddie xx

  • Good go see you are back home Eddie. Just texted you about that. Enjoy your rest now. Love to you all from

    Angie and Lilly xx

  • Good evening all

Glad to hear from you Lee!

Ellie: hope your sister us doing better and will be discharged soon.

Lily: horrible neighbourhood bully! Hope you are feeling a bit more settled today.

Eddie: Glad you have finally made your way home. Rest up my friend

I am doing pretty well this chemotherapy cycle so far. Just realised I have got one of my medical condition wrong on my annual travel insurance! Called and now have to pay an extra £260 but at least the insurance is valid. With so many questions on the travel insurance it can so easily done. Ordered another wig- a short one for the summer (needs must!).

    Stella xx

  • Thank you Stella, I've been home a couple of hours, and Sheila's looking after me, my bedtime soon, that's great your coping well with your chemo my friend, and absolutely, you don't want to invalidate your insurance, are you thinking about your next trip yet, were going to the Lake district at the end of the month, for a couple of days there's a lovely Spa we like, and I've been invited to Kalamata, but need to think about that, another wig, wonderful, though I thought you had a pixie cut one.

    Eddie xx

  • Hi Eddie

Lake district sounds ideal. I am due for a break of 8-12 weeks from June onwards if the chemo keeps things stable. I have booked to go to Lake Maggiore with my mum in June. I also hope to go to Safari in Zambia in July with Craig.

A trip to Greece sounds very nice too, is it in the summer?

I have wigs of various length but could always do with a new one.Rofl

Another sunny day here, going for a long walk xx

  • Hi Stella, the Lakes is a long weekend, at the end of April, then up to Glasgow to see friends. Kallamata would be nice, but not sure at this time.

Wow Stella 12 weeks off would be wonderful, as would a holiday to Italy with mum, and a safari with hubby, I will have everything crossed it all happens for you,

Another wig my friend, absolutely, does Winston have a favourite?, or one he doesn't like, lovely here as well, enjoy your walk, sounds nice, I'm still resting and now saving up, as my youngest daughter is getting married in June, lol.

    Eddie xx

  • Hi everyone, seem to have run out of steam a bit, probably a combination of immunotherapy not working to plan and general clouds that come my way now and again, but will disperse soon again as they always do. Nice to have you around to support me and accept my support. Nice place to be!

    Patrick xx

  • Hi Patrick

Sorry you are feeling up and down a bit. That is completely normal.

I was doing well then 3 am this morning chemo induced diarrhoea and stoma ! Not a great situation but we manage somehow and carry on Slight smile  all forgotten by breakfast time.
Have a chillax and rest. Maybe have something you really like for dinner or snack? I had a custard donut Doughnut and it was yummy.
