So I've had my first chemo on Wednesday. Mild headache on Thursday, which ramped up Friday. Had to put my head down in the afternoon. I've had the runs since Friday night but there is no let up. The drugs aren't doing anything to alleviating it. No temperature though. Eating is a challenge. Everything is tasteless and I have to psyche myself up to eat.
I've been avidly drinking 3-3.5litres of water, slathering moisturiser twice a day. I can't stand the smell of the unscented lotions.
I've woken up, my kidneys feel bruised and I ache.
Having a pyjama day!
Hì Sledge, I'm so sorry your having a tough time after your first cycle, finding the best anti emetics, isn't an exact science, and hopefully knowing your reactions will help them prescribe you a better one, good to know there's no infection and your drinking well and managing to eat something, Will have everything crossed your feeling a little better soon, and cycle 2 is much more manageable.

Morning Eddie
Last few days have been brutal. Although I haven't been sick, my appetite is gone and I've had the runs (all day and night). Immodium doesn't touch it. The irony in all this is that as a diabetic I crave sweet things and now I can't stand it. Anything sweet makes me want to throw up. Even trying to eat savoury I can taste the sweet element once it's breaks down in your mouth. I can't get rid of it. even water is beginning to taste sweet. I haven't drunk as much yesterday but I'm hoping I can throw some electrolytes into flavour it and that should help.
Hopefully I am out the other end of this, as I feel much better this morning, but I am still taking today off work.
Hi Sledge, I'm so sorry for the awful week you have had, it must have felt like torture how it affected your taste buds, though it's good to hear things have settled, and absolutely a day of rest my friend.
Electrolytes are great for replenishing fluids, their what I use, I am not diabetic, but when I have the runs my go to foods are, real greek yoghurt, eggs, rice, steamed veg, toast and miso soup Asda sell it but if you family or a friend shop online, there are better ones available.

I am so sorry you are having such a horrid time. Have you contacted your CNS? Your symptoms sound pretty serious maybe they can consider a dose reduction? I had some unpleasant side effects from chemotherapy in the beginning. Once they reduce the dose a bit , the quality of life is much improved.
Many research indicates there is no difference in outcomes between 100% and 80% of dose give to patients.
Definitely write everything down and keep your team updated.
Take care Stella
