  • Hi everyone, below is a photo of a bird that I used to make. It's a bird feeder and I put nuts in the top where the cork is and the little birds can poke their beaks through the gauze to nibble at the nuts. I made some for a select few members of the community about 5 or 6 years ago. I normally take it down and store it in the garage from spring to end of autumn because it's recommended not to feed the birds at this time of year. I'll take it down soon. It's hanging from the apple tree in my back garden, Mrs Tvman did the artwork. The blossom looks fantastic.

Annette was one of the lucky ones that I sent one to. I can't remember where I acquired the wood but I have none left!

  • That is beautiful TVman and credit to Mrs TVman for the artwork.  I love feeding the birds, unfortunately I saw a rat in the garden last week.

  • Sorry I forgo t to put a picture on Rolling eyes

  • Oh that is beautiful...so much work ...I love sewing I have done more applique than patchwork...

  • Thanks Fleabane, but  I think I should have thought about the colours a little more, I think the black let's it down, no sewing for me, I have to use a machine, though it's still so rewarding and you cam make whatever you want. Sorry my friend, I'm not familiar with applique, I'm willing to try anything though, I can barely hold a sewing needle for a minute, would I be able to try it?.

  • Applique is easy, and can be done on a machine...how to explain...u just take a base of fabric...then say take another bit of fabric maybe in the shape of a bird and sew to base fabric..u can pad it if u want...I have done a landscape but only half done, stored away somewhere unfinished..  Rofl...but I did do a meditation mat with a sun and moon..so it's similar to patchwork just different..I'll see if I can find it and take a photo

I still love your quilt  Smiley

  • Maybe it's a little like the difference between marquetry and parquetry... marquetry is all about shapes and images. Parquetry is geometric patterns. I'm looking forward to seeing your work.
