  • Crikey Eddie  how do you have the energy for all the travelling you do?  I am glad that you are able to do everything you want to.  (Makes me tired just reading it) SmileGood luck with your appointments.

  • Oh no Annette, you did tell me somewhere, I forgot until you mentioned it and I thought it was Patrick's masterpiece

    Sorry x

  • Oh I am sorry Eddie, I really did think it was Patrick's. I know now that it was Patrick who started the thread and I should have checked before I wrote that. I know we're having a bit of banter and that's good. I'm coming across new people, new threads and at my age it's a wee bit too much lol

I am really impressed by your giraffe, I couldn't even begin to draw something like that. It's fantastic. (Tenner in the post is it Eddie?)

  • Wow, if I did that amount of travelling I'd fall asleep and miss the stop!

Have a great day, especially with the girls.

I'm heading out soon to go and get essentials like dog food, biscuits and something else which I just can't remember right now. Mrs Tvman is coming with me, she's not very mobile so it'll be a slow day. She needs a new hip but can't have that until she speaks to the surgeon who reversed her stoma that she had to have at the time of her tumour removal and those things that we have all over our bodies. Can't for the life of me remember the name but she had 16 removed and 8 of them showed signs of cancer. It's now over 2 years since she was diagnosed on Good Friday 2023.

  • No problem my friend, unfortunately I've given the picture away to a friend, who's daughter isn't well, but who loves giraffe's, so hopefully it will cheer her up. PS if I can paint one anyone can, and I empathise with trying to keep up with the ever, changing forum, the brain fog has me too.

I'm lucky to be able to share the driving, but it's getting harder and there's always  price to pay, I don't arrive bright eyed and bushy tailed, I hope your shopping trip went well and you got everything, and I think you mean lymph nodes, 8 of mine were cancerous but radiotherapy took care of 7. I hope her appointment with her surgeon is soon and brings good news.

  • Hi Lee 2, if only, every trip I do affects me physically, but it's a small price to pay, for getting away with loved ones.

  • Hi Eddie, sincere thanks for your empathy. Driving for me is ok-ish. I don't like driving at night and I have to do all the driving these days. When we go to our daughter's house just outside Peterborough we go on the overnight ferry to Liverpool from Belfast, then I'm driving in daylight. Can take 3½ hours but we usually stop a couple of times then I'm not so tired.

What a lovely gesture to give happiness to your friend's daughter by giving her your giraffe. Kudos.

Yes, lymph nodes, that's it, I struggle with names for everyday items, can't seem to pull a word out of the air. I'm not much good at quizzes for that reason. It's frustrating.

Mrs Tvman's radiotherapy took care of the tumour. I'm going somewhere soon and I have asked her to phone the surgeon's secretary while I'm away. I haven't time now to tell you so I'll tell you later.

    Take care Eddie

  • Your welcome my friend, it's good to hear your wife's radiotherapy worked so well too, and I can relate to your driving experiences and managing them, regular stops are essential, I drive an automatic as my right foot is not great, arthritis and neuropathy, so goes dead if unused, a few times I've got out the car and fell down because my brain and foot weren't talking, lol

I'm sure you would have done the same, re, the giraffe, sadly I couldn't give her it myself as she's in isolation, but she sent me a lovely message, which made my day my.

I'm not sure if your memory issues are due to brain fog, mine are, mostly with a little aphantasia added, but I did a memory and concentration course which helped. I've always struggled with street names, pub names and dates, and I did have an Alzheimers test to rule that out, which I passed, that was frightening, and I think my memory is a little better, but some days it's a struggle, and now, even on good days, I doubt myself at times.

    Best wishes to you both

  • Thanks Eddie, for the first time in over 2 years I went to a MacMillan exercise class that I hardly ever missed for 6 years. It's called Move More, I don't know if it's a Northern Ireland thing or done throughout the UK? Ever heard of it?

I just couldn't leave Mrs Tvman through that time because she was in so much pain and also she had a lot of sickness. She had chemo for 14 months off and on, mainly on and was, and is, having difficulty walking even with the aid of two crutches. I kept in touch with the other members of the class as we have a WhatsApp group. Such a lot of support from everyone all that time and they were so pleased to see me today.

I just didn't have time today to explain before I left. Apologies.

I'm not sure about brain fog, I started to have memory problems around the time that my back condition began and I was on a very high dose of MST (slow release morphine sulphate) and I don't know whether that was part of the problem. I saw a consultant who put me on B1 in liquid form. I had a dementia test and I did quite well but couldn't for the life of me remember the 5 words she gave me. I had mental arithmetic questions which I've always been good at since primary school and then in secondary school I had to be top notch so I wouldn't get caned!

Getting late now, I've been watching the Arsenal v PSG match which ended 0-1. I always like the British sides to win but I've never forgotten nor forgiven Arsenal and Charlie George for beating Liverpool in the 1971 FA cup final 2-1. I was just 13 at the time and I sobbed my wee heart out!

Goodnight my friend, we'll maybe speak tomorrow.

  • Wow, tvman, no need to apologise my friend, wow back at exercise group after 2 years, I hope it wasn't too much of a struggle for you, and I haven't heard of move more, it sounds wonderful though, and completely understand putting your wife 1st, our families always come first, and great that you kept in touch with your exercise group friends, the catch up sounds wonderful.

Aren't dementia tests awful, certainly the worst test I have ever had, never again, and sorry my friend about your back problems, as if we don't have enough to deal with. and I couldn't answer whether MST or B1 contributed to your memory issues, thankfully your good at math,

I'm  not a football fan, nor a TV fan either, but I do have friends who are, their all buzzing because our team Donny Rovers have been promoted, PS, I do know Eddie Gray quite well. and I think it's time to move on from Charlie George lol.

    Sleep well, both of you.

    Eddie xx
