Morning all, hope you are all keeping well.
Had an appointment with my Oncologist yesterday, he authorised another 9 chemo's. But I haven't yet had a scan to see what effect the first round of chemo has had. He said on the basis of questions he's asked me, my responses and the look of the area concerned is a clear indicator that the chemo has had some effect on the tumour. This is positive news right? But still I am mentally unable to accept it and remain pessimistic to safeguard myself. I believe this is because I have no faith and went through such a bad rollercoaster time when they were trying to find a diagnosis. I mean amongst other mishaps they completed a scan and advised me it wasn't cancer I had a bleed. Yeah right, I actually had a 15 cm tumour, how the hells bells do you miss that on a scan huh!! Now when they give me positive news, I struggle to accept it as I'm so scared they'll give me hope but then only take it away again down the line. Does anybody else feel this way?
Food shopping today and I think a cream cake is in order! Hope you all enjoy your day whatever it is you may be doing.
Hi Marie, I hope your feeling a little better and your tummy and bowels are ok, apart from the butterflies due to the excitement of going to Scotland tomorrow
I forgot to say Mandys RT went well, half way through she had a scan which showed the effect on her cancer was better than hoped so the the radiation dose was increased, as they think it will help with surgery and increse the chance of a good outcome, but there's a little risk, the extra radiation means the operation will be put back 4 to 6 weeks, though everyone thinks it was the best way to go,
We now have a month to get some extra holidays in, yippee, PS Sheila, Mandy and I are in Whitby just for 1 night, we actually talked about the wedding for the first time for weeks, turns out everyone wants to move it to next summer, what a relief, though a little sad at the same time, so will be stopping at Sheila's till she goes to Australia, she tends to blame herself for things even when she's blameless and she's already feeling the effects of the longer nights, so being with her all the time I can support her and hopefully get away a few times as well.
Have a safe drive to Scotland and a fab holiday Marie, don't forget your audio books, weather can be poor, hope Dave's feeling 100% that's a lot of driving foranyone, you will probably drive past my aunties house, any chance of a lift LOL. can I ask about your burn dressings, are you sorted?.
Best wishes to you both, take care.
love Eddie xx
Going morning. Tummy and bowel have been okay touch wood. Here's hoping it lasts. Went to GP to get my cholesterol blood test done. She took it from the arm. She'd never seen a PICC line before and didn't know what to do lol Still it all went well. I went to hospital to get PICC line dressing changed. Megan did it and all went well. District Nurses came and redressed the burns. She said all looked well. She came with a bag of dressings and everything we need to do it on holiday. Dave has been well trained lol So, yes, the only thing to think about is Scotland and I'm looking forward to chilling and taking in the beautiful scenery. The journey makes me anxious but that's nothing new. We shall travel for 5 hours then stop and do a sleepover. We'll do the rest tomorrow.
That's awesome news about Mandy. All sounds very promising. It definitely sounds like the right option. And as you said it's a little risk! Please pass on my well wishes and tell her from me what a truly amazing job she is doing. Oh I do so love Whitby. One of my favorite places. Have the most wonderful time. Do you mind me asking why everyone wanted to move the wedding to next summer? I'm sorry Sheila is feeling low but happy to hear you're staying with her. Absolutely get as many wonderful trips in as possible. Make the most of the time and enjoy.
Dave has said it's forecast a lot of rain in Scotland lol What's new huh! I'm well prepared. Unlike Amy. Did I mention she's coming with us. I'm glad of that but as of 9 o clock last night she was just starting to wash her clothes lol Thank you for the well wishes and Scotland here I come yayyyyyyyy. Take care X
Hi Marie, are you there yet, LOL. Must feel great to get away again, and your your tummy and bowels are ok too, be careful with the water at the cottage
Good to hear your bloods and PICC dressing both went well, Megan is a saint, and Dave's been having a crash course in burn dressings, hope he was watching carefully and your all supplied up.
Have you been to the Highland region before, I've been many times and as a place to get away and switch off it's fab, you'll love it, you must be in Scotland and hopefully putting up for the night, is Amy able to share the driving.
Delighted with Mandys treatment so far, her team are amazing, they give you so much confidence and go through everything with you, I passed on your good wishes which she thanks you for, but she says she prefers presents.
Whitby was only 1 night, but it was enough for us to talk through our thoughts on the wedding, a summer wedding is perfect, I will be moving in with Sheila soon, I just need to find a new home for my chickens, we will get away when we can, have a lot of appointments in October but nothing I can't move, we're going to see if we can get to the Isles of Scilly, if not Cornwall
Tell Dave Scotland and rain go together apple pie and custard, Kids I'll never work them out and no you didn't say Amy was going too, and you forgot to give me a lift to my aunties as well.
PS, Annette and my favourite beach in the world is about 2 hours from you, Tougal beach, Morar near Mallaig, if your close by well worth a visit.
Say hi to Dave and Amy for me, I hope you all have a wonderful time, take care
love Eddie xx
Good morning. We're here now yes. We traveled up to Dumbarton. It was a calm and patient journey surprisingly lol No, unfortunately Amy doesn't drive. We didn't do anything we were just so tired and went to bed. Yesterday we traveled the rest of the journey to Strathcarron calling at Glencoe and Fort William. It's so stunningly beautiful. Cottage is gorgeous, very comfortable. There are no amenities here lol we shall have to be organized. There are two pubs in the village, we had a meal at one of them last night. It was lovely. Feeling well and looking forward to our adventures today when we decide where we're going. I've not been before no but it is well living up to my expectations. I'm glad you enjoyed Whitby and the plans for you and Sheila sound awesome. It's all looking good. I'm sat here laughing about Mandy wanting presents. I don't blame her I want presents too. I'll pick her up some haggis lol We are near that Mallaig, we passed it on the way. Thanks for the tip. Love a nice beach. Dave and Amy said hi right back at ya! Enjoy your day and take care X
Good morning Marie, lovely to hear your feeling well, and I bet your glad you split the journey, it's a long way away. Glen Coe is amazing and eerie, Fort William is handy for stocking up, and Loch Linnhe is amazing,
No amenities doesn't sound good, hope they told you when booking, so you could prepare
The Highlands are beautiful and sparsely populated so best to take everything you need with you rather than hoping to pick it up on the way, PS I don't want to sound negative but if you can, take a flask and blankets just in case.
I see you've found the pubs, there's a few nice places to eat, which is handy as its not exactly picnic weather.
It's fab going somewhere for the first time, a little advice the weather can be totally different to the east even if it's not good where you are. So enjoy your exploring.
Going to Whitby to talk about the wedding worked out well, a summer wedding sounds fab and I'm even a little excited already, everyone was for the switch too.
Mandy does like presents, especially edible one's, have a fab day, PS, it was my birthday yesterday and Sheila is taking me to the Isles of Scilly next weekend, would have gone this week but 11 appointments get in the way LOL, did get both scans booked for next weeks
Hi to Dave and Amy, tell Amy to look on spookyscotland.net and if your passing Loch Eck, stop at the woods on the shoreline, night is best, spookiest place I ever went, and never again
Hope you all have a great day
love Eddie xx
Hi Puddock, I'm not calling you Kate, thank you for your birthday wishes, that's very nice of you. We only stayed one night in Whitby, so no Magpie fish & chips ,it was a getaway to talk about the wedding, which will now be happening next summer, there's too much going on, Sheila's SAD has started early due to the rubbish weather, Mandy's Operation is in 4 to 6 weeks, then chemo. I don't know how i will cope on my new treatment or when my Operation is, my dysphagia needs "urgent" treatment, I don't know what as surgery is the usual treatment and my counsellor has referred me to MIND, precautionary, just a couple of meetings to go with my other 34 appointments in October, hope this doesn't sound awful, but since we moved the wedding back I feel much better. Talking of which Puddock, how are you feeling, is the back improving, are you up to walking Candy again, sorry for not posting much, had a little problem sending them, taking a long time, hopefully things will be ok soon, PS Sheila's taking me to the Isles of Scilly for my birthday, take care.
love Eddie xx
,
Good morning. You're so right, the highlands is everything you say and more. I love the eerieness, it's stunningly beautiful. We're having a wonderful time and managing quite well up to now without the amenities. We did bring stuff with us so it's all good. Yesterday we did ealeen donan castle and surrounding villages. Beautiful!! We called at a restaurant in lochcarron on the way home and I tried this Cullen skink. I really enjoyed it. Today we're off to Inverness and surrounding.
Oh Eddie a very very happy belated birthday to you. Hope you had a wonderful time and got everything you wished for. Isles of scilly is on our to do. It looks stunning. You're going to have an awesome time I'm so jealous. Awesome!! Good luck with your appointments and scans. This loch eck woods sounds fabulous I shall be looking at this. Enjoy your day and take care X
Puddock, I answered your post yesterday around 8pm, they are taking a long time to get through, thank you for your birthday wishes, that's very nice of you, if the post doesn't arrive I will do another later today,
love Eddie xx. ..
Hi Marie, and good morning, I knew you'd love the Highlands, they certainly have an affect on you, so you went to the most beautiful castle in Scotland, they sometimes illuminate it at night amazing inside, don't think I could live there, though I think we know someone who could, and you had haddock soup, not my fav, but Lochcarron is great for place's to eat, we like the Albatross cafe. Hope you enjoy Inverness, it's ok, just a little disappointing but there are lots of lovely places nearby, I like Dingwall and it has a lovely curry house, cafe India I think it's called
Thank you Marie, that's very nice of you, had a lovely day, got both my scans booked for next week, got a wedding invitation, a little ironic I know, lots of presents, 14 cakes, the freezers full now, a few massages my favourites, and lots of handmade cards and pictures from the little ones which I cherish
Next Saturday we're going on holiday, by train and helicopter if weather is good, if not then the ferry, but 1st I have to get through 11 appointments this week, yippee.
Say hi to Dave and Amy and have a fab day, take care, love Eddie xx
