Morning all, hope you are all keeping well.
Had an appointment with my Oncologist yesterday, he authorised another 9 chemo's. But I haven't yet had a scan to see what effect the first round of chemo has had. He said on the basis of questions he's asked me, my responses and the look of the area concerned is a clear indicator that the chemo has had some effect on the tumour. This is positive news right? But still I am mentally unable to accept it and remain pessimistic to safeguard myself. I believe this is because I have no faith and went through such a bad rollercoaster time when they were trying to find a diagnosis. I mean amongst other mishaps they completed a scan and advised me it wasn't cancer I had a bleed. Yeah right, I actually had a 15 cm tumour, how the hells bells do you miss that on a scan huh!! Now when they give me positive news, I struggle to accept it as I'm so scared they'll give me hope but then only take it away again down the line. Does anybody else feel this way?
Food shopping today and I think a cream cake is in order! Hope you all enjoy your day whatever it is you may be doing.
Hi Eddie
Sorry I haven't been posting much....very envious of you going to the Scilly Isles...I've always wanted to go!
My back isn't much better so I'm really fed up and bored. The only place I'm comfy is in bed, and I don't want to be bed-bound yet! It's beginning to worry me, as it's been like this for 3 weeks now. Ah well, have to be patient I suppose.
I wasn't aware you were having new treatment, so what are they trying now?
Hope it has good results!!
XXX Puddock
Hi Puddock, I'm sorry to hear your back's so sore your staying in bed, what's being done for you, have you seen/talked to a Dr about it, 3 weeks and no improvement is long enough, you've been patient long enough.
I'm guessing you mean cancer treatment, had my MDT meeting last Monday with my oncologist, my scan 2 weeks earlier didn't add up so need another and a bone scan as well, both arranged for Friday, but my PSA is 3.42 up from 1.04 three months earlier, which is concerning, so I'm stopping on prostap which even though it's failing, is still helping and i am now taking a Second generation ADT as well, plan B .have discussed plan C and even chemo.
love Eddie xx
Good evening Marie, and family, hope you have had a wonderful time in and around Inverness, one of my favourite regions in Scotland, I see the weather has been good up there, sunny been Cold , rainy
and miserable here all day, did I mention it
all day Will look forward to hearing what you and the gang got up to today and have planned for tomorrow in the sunshine
, just wanted to say, I saw my GP this morning
just for bloods and showed him my hernia, was told I needed surgery
asap and he called my cardiologist and they're doing it early on Wednesday, PS not my GP and cardiologist, hopefully a surgeon LOL, not expecting any problems as having it done
with nerve blocks
so no chance of clog popping
, should still be able to keep in touch, and the trip to the Scilly Isles is still
on but put back a couple of days
, hope you had another lovely
day and are listening
to your body
, sorry I have to ask, what amenities do you have, a roof
would be nice
, take care, please.
Eddie xx
Good morning. Weather isn't bad at all. We've had a little rain but nothing major. It's not really cold either, bearable. We didn't make Inverness yet we didn't have time. We went to clava Cairns on to cawdor and cawdor castle and then on to dolphin spotting at chanonry point. Beautiful. Yesterday we went to portree and then north landmark spotting, man of storr, kilt rock and waterfall and on to a dinosaur beach. Isle of Skye has to be one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Breathtaking. I believe today we are off to loch Ness and surrounding.
This will make you laugh because honestly we can't come anywhere without there being some stress or other. When we arrived at the cottage it hadn't been cleaned since the previous people left. Towels all used and bedding. We rang the owner to which a cleaner came out and did it. Took them 2 hours. Yesterday we got up to no electricity. Strangely they have a pre payment meter and hadn't topped up. We couldn't have a coffee, shower or anything. Rang the owner again and he put it on. Took him 4 hours. Honestly you wouldn't credit it would you lol The good news is I've managed to get us 100 quid compensation.
Do you mean this Wednesday for your hernia operation. Wow, take care and make sure you rest. I hope it all goes well. Please let me know as soon as you can. Good to hear scilly is still on. Doesn't matter it's delayed as long as you still get there.
There are no amenities. Apparently there is a spar shop somewhere but it's a way away lol There is a pub very close by. The Thistle, but we're not a fan of the menu. We've been eating wherever we land and had some lovely food. Yesterday I had a roast beef dinner. Yes, roast on Monday not Sunday lol it was yummy. Take care and enjoy your day X
Hi Marie, did you like my emogis, not really me, your weather sounds fab compared to ours, it's awful.
You never missed much not going to Inverness, did you see the dolphins at the Black Isle .
You got to the Isle of Skye, isn't it amazing and the drive there is one of my favourites, did you see the wild goats, Loch Ness is huge and Fort Augustus a lovely place to spend some time
Wow Marie, when you said no amenities didn't think you meant electricity, and no towels and bedding lol, well done sorting it out and getting a refund, hope you didn't take his 1st offer, I guess he'll not be getting any recommendations from you
Yep tomorrow morning, I've been in hospital since 6pm, saw my fab cardiologist, we talked about chemotherapy, she's no concerns about my Op, and did say she would pop in and see me tomorrow
Will be in touch tomorrow, still hopeful of getting away on Saturday, but if it's later that's ok, how are you holding up, everything ok with you, when you first said there were no amenities I thought ,no water, electric or bathroom, what a plonker
Had a long day today been out since 7.30am. Was hoping I would be on a ward, but no, Obs is ok at least I have the nurses for company, sleep well
love Eddie xx
Good morning. Oh Eddie that's ace news. Really pleased to hear that. Rest and recuperate and I hope you recover in time for scilly.
I loved your emojis. I tend not to use them on here because it makes everything go wrong. Must be my phone. We didn't see the dolphins at black isle. We saw seals. Well actually we saw one seal lol Isle of Skye was absolutely stunning. We didn't see any feral goats. Shame!
Loch Ness was great. We went to urquhart castle, took a boat trip on the loch and went to fort Augusta. Absolutely loved it all. Out of all the the wild life I didn't see I'm very upset I didn't see Nessie lol Yesterday we went to Seildagh, toridon, applecross and Plockton. Absolutely loved that too! Such a peaceful meandering day.
Let me know how your day goes and take care and rest. Everything is good with me. I get tired but it's to be expected and I've had the usual tummy and bowel issues but nothing major, hasn't stopped me and usually a morning thing.
Stay safe and get better soon X
Hi Marie, sorry about the late reply, been a difficult day, but good to be home , even if its my new home "Sheila's ", Thank you, I will be fine
for the Scilly's
Not a lot of wildlife photos, that's a shame, but that's Scotland wildlife is very hit and miss but can be spectacular. maybe next time.
Loch Ness is awesome, never been on it, or been to Urquhart castle, but like Fort Augustus it's always busy and the view up Loch Ness is fab, you don't drink enough to see Jessie, everyone knows that
Lovely places you visited today, did you notice the palm trees at Plockton, its a special place, good food as well.
Was nice to leave hospital earlier than expected, not done much, taking it easy, did get a call from the hospital, they've put my scans together so don't need to go to 2 different hospitals tomorrow and they fit in perfectly with my existing appointment.
Sorry to hear your tummy and bowels are a little upset, probably to be expected I think a lot of people get the same, it's hard for the digestive system to with different foods and water, and I'm not surprised
it hasn't stopped you and your tired
I would be as well. Thank you Marie, but I feel ok, had some upsetting news today, not about me, so I may not be on the forum much for a while, but will still look forward to your Scottish adventures, how are your fellow travellers doing, say hi to Dave and Amy for me.
love Eddie xx
Good afternoon. I'm really glad everything went okay and you will be good for scilly. Good to hear you are home comfortable at Sheila's. Great news. Glad to hear as well they've rearranged your appointments to make life easier for you. When you're in recovery that's how it should be. Keep on taking it easy.
Yesterday we did kinlochewe, lochmaree, Gairloch, poolewe and Altbea. All stunning. We called at the beach at Gairloch and gruinard bay. Both were beautiful and there was only a couple more people on them. It was wonderful. Today we are on route to Glasgow for a sleepover to continue on with the journey home tomorrow. We're at glenfinnan viaduct at the moment and popped into fort William. Dave and Amy are both doing good. They said hi back at ya. We have had the most wonderful time.
I am sorry to hear you've had upsetting news. Please don't worry about replying. Do that when you feel better able. Recover and get better. That's what matters. Take care X
Good evening Marie, thank you., hospital appointments went well today, feeling better, no Sheila though she's been in Nottingham all day with her church pals,
Yesterday sounds fab, a day in Wester Ross, sounds fab, Gairloch beach is beautiful and Lochmaree is in the loveliest valley in Scotland, I only go to Kinlochewe as its the only place with a petrol station for miles. Marie I'm very impressed with your schedule, you've picked some wonderful places to explore.
Did you go to Glenfinnan viaduct on the steam train from Fort William, I like Fort William but it's not the prettiest place
Always sad going home after a wonderful holiday, I hope you enjoy your night in Glasgow, and wish you a safe journey home
Thanks Marie, the news hit me hard, though I know a bit more today,, and things seem better today.
Hope you've all had a wonderful time
love Eddie xx
