Morning all, hope you are all keeping well.
Had an appointment with my Oncologist yesterday, he authorised another 9 chemo's. But I haven't yet had a scan to see what effect the first round of chemo has had. He said on the basis of questions he's asked me, my responses and the look of the area concerned is a clear indicator that the chemo has had some effect on the tumour. This is positive news right? But still I am mentally unable to accept it and remain pessimistic to safeguard myself. I believe this is because I have no faith and went through such a bad rollercoaster time when they were trying to find a diagnosis. I mean amongst other mishaps they completed a scan and advised me it wasn't cancer I had a bleed. Yeah right, I actually had a 15 cm tumour, how the hells bells do you miss that on a scan huh!! Now when they give me positive news, I struggle to accept it as I'm so scared they'll give me hope but then only take it away again down the line. Does anybody else feel this way?
Food shopping today and I think a cream cake is in order! Hope you all enjoy your day whatever it is you may be doing.
Hi Marie, That is great your grandson wanted to stay another night with you. We had our grandson for the weekend last weekend, it was great!
We went on a Hot Air Balloon ride while in Florida and we had to be at the taking off site at 04.00 and we when were walking through this field in the dark, we wondered if we'd done the right thing. However by the time all the safety things were done and the balloon inflated, the sun was just coming up as we were ascending, it was amazing! Enjoy your Festival. We are going to the local Canal Festival later with our Granddaughters and the weather is to stay dry! I hope you get it dry too!
Love Annette x
Good morning. Oh no I hope you're okay and feeling better. That's such a shame but here's hoping you have rested and recuperated and back to some normality whatever that may be. I hope you're enjoying the rest of your trip. Really pleased to hear your tests went well that's ace news. Chatsworth was great. It was absolutely packed and you had to queue for ages to see and do anything. That was a bit of a downer. And we underestimated the weather it was hot hot hot. But we had a walk round and had a browse. Grandson did some archery and shooting. He had fun. You'll be glad to know I was a little wiser in recognising my limitations and had continual rest stops throughout. I lasted till 5 to which I'd completely had enough. Not bad eh. We didn't see the balloons. They wasn't until 6 30 and unfortunately I was too tired. Yesterday I did nothing and pottered at home. Today I believe me and A are getting out the pet Vax cleaner and attempting downstairs lol Needs must. It's a gloomy day here today. How are you and what plans for today? X
Ahhh wow a balloon ride in Florida! That's awesome Annette. Wow I bet you had the most amazing time. The weather at Chatsworth was boiling. Really hot. I hope you enjoyed your canal festival and the sun shone. Gloomy here today, not up to much and having a lazy one. Grandson went home yesterday. He has been here all summer and will no doubt be back October half term. Enjoy your day and take care X
Hi Marie, I'm ok thank you, though Sheila cancelled our trips on Friday and rightly so. Just a couple of days in bed and I'm fine, taking it easy too, nice yesterday visiting the gardens then we had dinner with a lovely lady and her family, who works at our hotel, she looked after me while I was in bed, it was a wonderful experience. Sheila "the church goer " didn't like it that all the shops were closed, I thought it was fab.
Heart MOT results are all good just MRI, will pop in Friday to see my cardiologist to get them and my cardio/oncology notes.
Glad you all enjoyed Chatsworth, despite the crowds and the heat, and nice to hear you paced yourself I know I can do more by having a break regularly and a big pat on the back for going so long, I hope the vacuuming goes quickly and A and you can go out and treat yourselves
We are going up the cable car, it has fab views at the top and a restaurant, and we have been told a very gentle walk down so whilst having lunch we can see who's doing the walk and if there's a few older people in everyday clothes we will try it, and later we are taking our hosts from yesterday to dinner , tomorrow is gift shopping and home.
love Eddie xx
Good morning. Really pleased to hear you have picked up. That's awesome news. How wonderful about the lady who works at the hotel looking after you. There really are some beautiful humans around thank goodness. Were the shops closed because it was Sunday you mean? Oh no for Sheila!! Hope she made up for it when she could shop. The cable car sounds fab. Did you go to the restaurant? Hope you managed the walk down and didn't overdo it. Nothing much to tell you this end. I've not been up to much aside from jobs around the house and garden. Not unduly worried I'm at dentist tomorrow and will take the opportunity to browse the local shops, Friday I've that cholesterol blood test at GP and Saturday picc line dressing changed. Busy few days ahead. Are you back home now? X
Hi Marie, back home and no issues with flying so if I get the chance to get to Australia flying shouldn't be a problem, phew.
Juli was the highlight of the holiday and her family couldn't have been nicer.
Yes they close most of the shops , the retailers, for Sunday, I thought it was lovely, the "christian" was not happy and yes she made up for it on Monday.
The cable car was nice, as was the restaurant at the top but the views were amazing as was the walk down, if its possible we will go back, maybe as part of a cruise.
Good luck with all your appointments, fingers crossed they all go well for you and they leave you plenty of time to do enjoyable things, apart from the picc line life looks pretty normal, which for us is FAB,
I'm chasing up appointments, my PSA is due soon and my MDT meeting 2 weeks after, went to Anderby Creek yesterday with my cancer friends, one of them has booked a house for 10 days , and it was lovely, so going back Friday and Saturday with my youngest daughter and her 3 youngest who were too young to go to Disney in Florida, It sounds like a good idea.
I hope you get out and about doing some nice things, weather is good till Sunday. Say hi to Dave for me

Good morning. Glad you're home safe and sound. And good to hear about the flying and the fact you was okay. That's great news. Australia!! Wow wouldn't that be ace. I really hope it happens for you. It sounds like you had a wonderful time away aside from your relapse. Still, you certainly made the most of it and it's so good to hear. Love anderby creek. Beautiful place. That will be awesome you going back with the family this weekend. I hope you're all having the most wonderful time. Enjoy!!! Okay so what news have I. Brace yourself lol Went to dentist and I need 3 fillings pahhhhhhh!! Got up this morning and Dave has tested positive for covid. And to top it I have burnt the tumour, chest area with an hot water bottle. I know right you wouldn't credit it. It looks like a bad burn. It's blistered and weeping and the skin has peeled. I had no idea and can't feel a thing. I've rung Helen palliative nurse and she said I won't feel it because I have no feeling/sensitivity there. She told me to cancel the GP appointment for blood test and I'm just sat waiting for the district nurse to come see it and dress it. What am I like huh!!! Deary me. So that's my plans for the weekend lol Glad you're having a much better time of it. Enjoy and take care x
Hi Marie, yes good news about flying, though doubt I will be going to Aus this year, been to see cardiologist today, she can't recommend chemo which was tough to take though she did say when it's the last throw of the dice go for it, PS, have an epigastrict hernia which needs repairing soon and is inches from my heart looks like another Gethsemane experience, we are back in Anderby Creek, most of my friends made it and the grandkids are very popular especially Mandy but are all in bed, nice to know you've been here too, It's hardly changed in years which is why we like it.
Oh dear Marie, that's a lot of fillings, It must be related to your treatment, though you do like your yummies, and poor Dave hope it's not hit him too hard and you've had your jabs, once again I must apologise I thought they would have told you fungating tumours can be desensitized, I have to ask why a hot water bottle in summer. If you have any gauze you should cover the wound loosely with it, what's happening with the PICC line tomorrow, maybe worth asking district nurse, PS it's supposed to be good news comes in three's, not bad news, "what are you like", Indeed, I'm not saying anything.

Good morning. Just a quicky as I've been up since 4 and tested positive for COVID. Not feeling great!!!! But the burns were not as bad as thought. The nurse said it should heal within a matter of days which is good news. I got the hot water bottle as I've felt a little cold on an evening. I do love one and find it comforting. Nobody has said anything to me about the tumour being desensitized. I know now though lol The nurse has dressed the burns and I didn't make the picc line dressing unfortunately. I will speak to someone tomorrow. Really sorry to hear about the chemo and the hernia. Not great news and that makes me feel sad. Are you still at anderby creek? Take care X
Morning Marie, I'm so sorry you have COVID and it's hit you hard, will Dave and you be recovering together, you are allowed to go out with precautions in place, glad the burn isn't too bad and please be careful next time, it's sad the nurse didn't change the PICC line, though hopefully it will be sorted soon,
will just have to forget about chemotherapy and move on, and deal with the hernia when I have to. We got home last night from the coast, always amazes me how many woman talk to you when you have little ones with you,
Hope everyone's looking after you and your feeling better soon with an all clear as well, if you don't feel up to posting, I understand, take care both of you
