Morning all, hope you are all keeping well.
Had an appointment with my Oncologist yesterday, he authorised another 9 chemo's. But I haven't yet had a scan to see what effect the first round of chemo has had. He said on the basis of questions he's asked me, my responses and the look of the area concerned is a clear indicator that the chemo has had some effect on the tumour. This is positive news right? But still I am mentally unable to accept it and remain pessimistic to safeguard myself. I believe this is because I have no faith and went through such a bad rollercoaster time when they were trying to find a diagnosis. I mean amongst other mishaps they completed a scan and advised me it wasn't cancer I had a bleed. Yeah right, I actually had a 15 cm tumour, how the hells bells do you miss that on a scan huh!! Now when they give me positive news, I struggle to accept it as I'm so scared they'll give me hope but then only take it away again down the line. Does anybody else feel this way?
Food shopping today and I think a cream cake is in order! Hope you all enjoy your day whatever it is you may be doing.
You are a star Eddie, sending your family off to Florida! Hope you have some other activities planned whilst they are away, it might seem a bit quiet without them. I know you are planning to go to Tromso soon.
I'm having a very quiet day today, feeling a bit 'off'.
The electric meter man arrived early! Most unusual. I now have a smart meter with a control panel thing that I'll probably never understand or look at. As long as it sends my readings, I don't care!
Hope you have a good day at the hospice, and a lovely family meal.

Good afternoon Puddock, sorry to hear your not too good today, do you think you know why that would be, I hope it passes soon, yippee you have a smart meter, something I have never seen and like you wouldn't know how to use one I still have the old one, never gets read, and pay in by DD every 3 months, never had them phone me to say I owe them so must be in the black, I might be rich. well maybe not after the Florida bill. Still have 3 youngest grandkids including Mandy and mum as well as my son and his family who we will be visiting soon, we are off to the lakes this weekend 1 night only, have heart MOT next week, hoping for good news regarding chemo, next Thursday Sheila is taking me to Tromso sadly have to be home Monday and 11th Sept have MDT to see where we go, and family back on the 12th, hospice was fab, a couple of new faces, lovely how quickly you bond to others on the same journey and last all family dinner tonight for nearly 4 weeks, Hope hubby is feeling better too and your ok walking Candy, any progress with the ceiling and good to hear about the drop in centre.

Good morning. Got to see the karting yesterday which was good. A asked them if I could sit on the lower floor to which they obliged and put a table and chair out for me. It was great. Afterwards called in m & s to do a little shopping. Lovely day. Today appointment with oncology as to whether or not I can continue with the gemcitabene chemo. It is visibly clear there has been some significant change to the tumour. I shall certainly fight my corner. Will let you know how goes it. Other than that not much on. It's a gloomy windy day here. Back from hospital and audiobook and some music and pottering no doubt. Your pub lunch and massage sounds marvelous. Hope dinner and seeing your family off to Florida went well. Awesome. I second Kate, what a truly amazing gent you are doing that for them. Legend!! You're going to miss them. How are you feeling today? And have you got anything on? Enjoy and take care x
Hi Marie, I'm so happy you got to see your grandson karting and really nice they helped you out too, though it reads like only you and grandson went, which is great that you feel confident enough to do so, fab day I'd call it.
The oncology appointment seems to have come round quickly, absolutely fight your corner and remember it's your body and your choice, if your bloods are good and your NCI-CTC is below 1 maybe gemcitabene could be an option, but you know more about chemo than me, but I will have everything crossed for you and wishing with all my heart you get good news too.
Marie, was your appointment very early today, or are you describing your plans for today, your really getting into audiobooks, your even getting me curious especially as i remember much more from being told, than from reading, music and pottering is much of my day too, have a massage today "a present", and have exercise group, sadly it's the instructors last day, guess what I've made her, a cheesecake.
Lunch was lovely, one friend bought her kids and another and I bought our dogs, food was ok, but being sat outside by the canal was lovely as was the massage, Marie, not sure if you could have a full body massage but reflexology is so relaxing, well worth a try. Family dinner as always was great and said our goodbye's last night.
I'm only doing what any dad would do, it's going to be tough for them in 5 weeks so if I can help take their minds off what's to come and a holiday helps, that's what matters, not a few quid sitting in the bank,
I'm ok today, looking forward to going with Sheila to the lakes tomorrow, booked into a Spa near Keswick only for 1 night as I'm taking my brother to New Mills on Sunday, then straight on to Shropshire to see my son and family for a few days.

Well turns out I was extremely anaemic, no wonder I was feeling so very low and just pants! They gave me my chemo at the reduced rate of 80% then a blood transfusion. I officially now have 30% Spanish blood! That was Wednesday evening and already feel so much better. Back again for day 2 of cycle 5 next week if bloods holding up. One more cycle and they’ll rescan to see if chemo still working, got a good response after first 3 cycles. They said they’d keep me on it as long as it was working or until toxicity too much. I’m on GemCarbo combo, fairly harsh but not many options as I’m triple negative and not suitable candidate for immunology. I was feeling so defeated last week but thanks to new bloods and chats on here and feeling the positivity from you all, feel so much better.
Good morning Ochno, good to hear that your feeling better and they've found out you have anaemia which was a big part in your feeling awful, I hope the new chemotherapy dose and transfusion helps to keep your spirits up, can be tough enough to be positive in our situation without complications adding to it, fingers crossed your anaemia won't be too much of an issue going forward. 30% Spanish blood in you I hope that doesn't mean your 30% less Scottish. Best wishes for next weeks cycle and for the scan Ochno it's been nice having you on the thread, and if we have helped you that's great but for me that's why we are here, to support each other. PS, if you could send us some Spanish sunshine that would be nice, it's cool, gray and blowing a gale here, take care.

Definitely made an improvement, even did a dog walk this morning! No still Scottish, topped up my porridge levels and been listening to Billy Connolly. If only I had some Irn Bru!
My factor 50 is on and sun umbrellas up already. It’s a scorcher, roll on September x. I’ll try and will some Spanish weather your way, warm front heading your way x
Good morning. No, not just me and grandson went karting. We was all there. It was great. Oncology appointment went well. She looked at the tumour and was quite taken a back at the shrinkage. She is not sure as to what has caused it. She is leaving me alone whilst it's in this state to which she will return to treatment when there is a shift again. She is happy for me to have gemcitabene again and even discussed more radiotherapy. I'm very happy with this decision and looking forward to being treatment and tumour temporarily freedom lol I do feel better than I've ever done. My appointment wasn't until late afternoon but just pottered up until then. Same today. Having a lazy day. It's rainy and windy here. Hope your massage and exercise went well. Yummy cheesecake! I bet she was pleased with that. Love canal walks. Always good to be by water. So relaxing. I hope you enjoyed. I've never had any of this reflexology and don't know much about it at all. Along with my audiobook and music today that will give me something to look at. I hope the goodbye family dinner went well. So excited for them lol I don't believe it's what any dad would do it's what a very special dad would do. Oh wow a spa in the lakes. That's awesome. It's going to be ace and have the most amazing time. The beautiful lakes!!!! Enjoy and take much care x
I'm so pleased your oncology appointment went well!
It will be good for you to be able to focus on enjoying your life, without having the treatment regime to cope with, for a while at least.
I can recommend reflexology....I go to my nearest cancer drop-in centre for a massage every now and again. It's lovely! See if you can try it if you get the chance.
Best wishes
Kate
