Pessimistic and no faith!

Morning all, hope you are all keeping well.

Had an appointment with my Oncologist yesterday, he authorised another 9 chemo's. But I haven't yet had a scan to see what effect the first round of chemo has had. He said on the basis of questions he's asked  me, my responses and the look of the area concerned is a clear indicator that the chemo has had some effect on the tumour. This is positive news right? But still I am mentally unable to accept it and remain pessimistic to safeguard myself. I believe this is because I have no faith and went through such a bad rollercoaster time when they were trying to find a diagnosis. I mean amongst other mishaps they completed a scan and advised me it wasn't cancer I had a bleed. Yeah right, I actually had a 15 cm tumour, how the hells bells do you miss that on a scan huh!! Now when they give me positive news, I struggle to accept it as I'm so scared they'll give me hope but then only take it away again down the line. Does anybody else feel this way?

Food shopping today and I think a cream cake is in order! Hope you all enjoy your day whatever it is you may be doing.

  • Good morning. Had a lovely walk to the shops, parcel was delayed but had a charity shop and picked up some lovely things. Collected food from Sainsbury's for A to cook a pork roast but didn't happen. D took grandson swimming then we went out for pizza last night. Lovely day. At hospital this morning. Just to get my picc line dressing changed. Bit of a chore going back there but hey ho. Not got much else planned for today. Pottering and pork roast lol Sorry to hear you've been a little fed up. Hate that. Maybe like you say see therapist and see if helps. Really hope mood shifts. Happy to hear about surgery. Thinking of Mandy and hoping all goes well. It so will she's a tough one like you. How's things in Scotland. Sounds ace! Beach, lazing, eating, swimming and nature. You just can't go wrong can you. Looking forward to hearing your news. Take care and enjoy your day x

  • That sounds like not a great drop and hopefully will be as effective. Definitely needs discussion. Porridge and Scotland. Yay what more could you wish for! Ace! Hope you're feeling a little better today. Let me know how goes it. Take care and enjoy your day x

  • Morning Marie,  what a fab day yesterday for you, hope your parcel is sorted soon, your much busier than me which is wonderful to hear. and pork roast today with family sounds good to me,  hope your hospital trip is a quick one

My feeling down has been for some time but it's not all the time, mostly I'm fine just be nice to get rid of them.

Thanks Marie,  I will pass on your thoughts and wishes to Mandy, she 's rougher than me so will be supporting me as much as I will be supporting her through surgery

Yesterday was lovely as my girlfriends like to fool and joke around, not unlike my aunt and partner I was the butt of most of their jokes yesterday but they wouldn't  get in the water with me,, some excuse about no swimming costumes

Just saw my friends set off up Ben Nevis, will take them maybe 8 hours, so  we're going to see some friends.

  • Good morning. The pork roast was so yummy. One of A's finest. Hospital went well, no problems to be had. In and out. Bad thoughts are always there aren't they. Wouldn't it be nice to have the carefree life we once had. I can't get rid of mine. I just have to try shelf them and get through the day as best I can. I'm glad you had a lovely day yesterday. Sorry to hear though they didn't get in the water. It would have been brrrrrrrrr although they say that's what good for you. I'm glad to hear you got in. Was it good lol How did their climb go? I hope it all went well. How was your friends? I believe you said you're on route home today? I myself am day in pottering. D is taking grandson to the football. Enjoy your day and take much care x

  • Morning Marie,  the pork roast sounds fab will it be cold pork today, not so yummy to me, I usually cut it into slices and fry it in butter,  tastes like a pork chop, yummy again

The bad thoughts, days really get you down don't they,  get me thinking of things I don't want to,, like you I try to put them away but even on good days they pop up, even if it's only for a few seconds, but you have to try to be positive  which is much easier when your not alone.

Lazy day Friday  would be a better description, lounging at my aunties and lazing on the beach, PS the sea was not cold It gets the gulf stream, the girls really let your gender down with the we have no cozzies excuse

Yesterday another lazy day, took girls to Ben Nevis and my aunts partner to her friends and apart from a walk to the pub for lunch we just chatted till 5pm when we took the girls  back, having successfully made it to the top yippee, a little celebration when we got back but they were all ready for a shower and bed

Girls stiff and sore today, put my massaging "skills" to good use which I think helped, homemade dinner today then heading home later today,

Not a football fan, I have no interest in it either, enjoy your pottering, hope your having better weather than us, take care

  • Hi Marie, hope your feeling we'll after a good night's sleep, we all got home safely, did a little too much driving but the girls were shattered, I was so glad my auntie and I could help them out, slept well not done much, chatted to friends on the allotment and off to exercise group soon getting ready for next weeks cardio MOT which will hopefully go well and increase my options for next month's MDT when my cancer treatment changes or stops. Hope you have plans for today and all your family are well

  • Good morning. I'm feeling very well thank you. Still tackling the stairs but believe I'm much better than I was. Good to hear you had a super time in Scotland and that you're all home safe and sound. I expect you are tired. What a journey, exhausting. Glad you took the time to rest and recuperate. Good to see your allotment friends, hope they're well. And good to hear your exercise went well. You are most definitely doing all you can towards that mot, I wish you all the very best. Yesterday I did get out but nothing special. Usual food shopping trip and back to listen to my audiobook and music. Gives me my daily exercise and D is working so limited to what can do anyway. Same today. I'm thinking I may slow cook a pan of good as I call them. Everything good in and usually tomato based. A trip to supermarket is on the cards. I have a new audiobook to start too. How are you and what plans have you? Enjoy and take care x

  • Good morning to you too Marie,  great you're feeling well and the exercise is helping, getting out yesterday  is good even just shopping is good for you,  and enjoy your shopping today, a pan of good is that made to a recipe  or just what's in the fridge at the time,  I usually add the leftovers to rice or a stir fry  with mixed results

Scotland was a last minute decision, I had to help my friends out and glad I did, everyone got on great and are talking of visiting again soon, alls ok here, usual Tuesday exercise,  friends then therapy

  • Good morning. A pan of good is a stew lol I just call it that. Usually involving a meat and lots of veg and good stuff. Whatever I decide to put in it. Known to feed me for 3 days lol It's all just so easy in the slow cooker. As it was I didn't get chance to do it as grandson wanted curry. And what a curry it was. Yummy. He is go karting again today so I will try make an effort again to watch him. Will collect parcel from m & s and get some more yummy food. Not had much sleep past couple of days. Not sure why. Oncologist said I wouldn't sleep because of steroids but I actually have previously. Only had couple of hours past couple of nights. I'm just about weened off them steroids now.bjust 1 a day for the next 3 days then done. How are you today and what plans have you? Hope your usual Tuesday went well. Enjoy your day and take care x

  • Morning Marie, that's a coincidence I've been sleeping well for weeks but the last 2 nights have been poor.

Oooh I love stew especially when it's cooler weather, and like you homemade with whatever you fancy thrown in, I make mine well before we eat it as I think it tastes better after being frozen, and why wouldn't you make enough for several meals  A curry is a wonderful alternative .

Good luck getting to see your grandson karting, and more yummy food as well are your clothes feeling a little snug yet .

Steroids can impact sleep.  but taking them early morning can help,  though good to hear your off them soon.

Yesterday was good. exercise was a bit of a struggle for a few of us which was a first.  friends meet up  was nice we met at a pub for lunch and massage was lovely,  my masseur is one of my friends who went up Ben Nevis Saturday, she's good again, it was minus 6 with 65mph winds near the top and couldn't see 10 meters, and she fell a few times, who said no good deed goes unpunished, she's amazing

Today is hospice day and family dinner later as most are off to Florida tomorrow so won't see them again for 3 weeks

    love Eddie xx
