Morning all, hope you are all keeping well.
Had an appointment with my Oncologist yesterday, he authorised another 9 chemo's. But I haven't yet had a scan to see what effect the first round of chemo has had. He said on the basis of questions he's asked me, my responses and the look of the area concerned is a clear indicator that the chemo has had some effect on the tumour. This is positive news right? But still I am mentally unable to accept it and remain pessimistic to safeguard myself. I believe this is because I have no faith and went through such a bad rollercoaster time when they were trying to find a diagnosis. I mean amongst other mishaps they completed a scan and advised me it wasn't cancer I had a bleed. Yeah right, I actually had a 15 cm tumour, how the hells bells do you miss that on a scan huh!! Now when they give me positive news, I struggle to accept it as I'm so scared they'll give me hope but then only take it away again down the line. Does anybody else feel this way?
Food shopping today and I think a cream cake is in order! Hope you all enjoy your day whatever it is you may be doing.
Hi Eddie
Some progress with the roof...2 possible tradespeople coming to have a look, but no definite times given. My car tyre is hopefully getting changed today too....again, no time given so I'll have to wait in.
I haven't done much gardening over the past few days....weather hasn't been kind here!
Candy is very bored and giving me those 'looks'. I hope we will be able to get out for a walk at some point!
It is going to be very quiet on here for a few days...everyone is going away!
A little progress with the roof, I hope one of them can help, and your tyre gets replaced soon, I don't like waiting in and tell them i need 30 minute's warning when they will arrive so i can still o all my usual things. Kate I could cry looking at my allotment, usually at this time of year it's been planted out and we are eating all sorts, not a thing has been planted yet, I hope you get out with Candy too, I use my mobile to keep in touch when i'm not at home, I think Annette keeps in touch as well, Marie goes into full holiday mode but will catch up later.

Hi Kate, my daughter and her partner have some of the allotment and it's all planted, took her to Cleethorpes today, lovely, I will walk Poppy to garden soon, but to tired to do anything more today, PS i have 100s of plants ready to go out, have 3 appointments tomorrow, not local so maybe 8 hours to do them and Friday busy to afternoon, Kate how did you get on, is the tyre sorted and what about the roofers, I hope you have some positive news to share.
Eddie xx
Hi Eddie
You have an amazing number of appointments! You need a personal secretary to keep track of them all.
Positive news on the tyre front....but I waited until nearly 4 o clock before he arrived. There was a piece of metal, it looked like a staple, stuck in the tyre. He was able to repair it, rather than replace it.
I took Candy out for a quick walk as soon as he'd gone, and I'll take her out again before it gets dark. No sign of roofer yet.
Hope you can have a marathon planting session over the weekend at the allotment. My friend gave hers up a few months ago, but she swapped with a raised bed that they have for beginner gardeners. It is big enough for her to manage, and easier on her back. She's 76, I think.
Take care
Kate
Kate, glad your tyre is sorted and you got out with candy, the good old british builder lets you down again, I bet they never had the decency to call and let you know they wouldn't be coming, Kate I would love a PA are you interested, PS not all my appointments are medical and a few are enjoyable. When I retired about 5 years ago I put slab paths down all over the garden and made 33 raised beds and have 6 greenhouses for when it's a little cool to make gardening as easy as possible, I also have 14 water butts which collect rain water and have irrigation systems attached to water greenhouses by just turning a tap, and I do no dig, gardening couldn't be much easier, It's me. I'm the problem. sleep well.

Hi, Yes it is great to get away for a bit! Oh I have ice cream at home too, we have two ice cream parlours within ten minutes of the house and it is our grandchildren's favourite treat when we take them there!
I haven't even looked at next weeks weather! Whatever it is we will enjoy every minute! Hope you enjoy your trips out too!
Love Annette x
Crikey! So many raised beds!! And 6 greenhouses!! They must take some filling.
I used to use a no-dig system when I had an allotment, but no raised beds.
My garden is so unlike most peoples' idea of a garden...no open spaces, no lawn, just paths through very densely planted trees and shrubs. It is like a secret garden, with strange sculptures hidden away. I'm enjoying discovering it all, getting to know it properly, and removing some plants that have become too leggy or overgrown. It needs opening up, but not too much. I like having to push through some plants...it slows you down and makes you really look at things. When I was working as a garden designer, I tended to prefer Japanese style gardens. I love texture and shape from foliage plants, and don't often use bright colours. My husband, on the other hand, grows roses and clematis! Maybe it's why we live in separate houses....
Now the weather is improving, I'll get out in the garden again and continue clearing and tidying. Candy is overdue some long walks too.
I'm pleased some of your appointments are enjoyable. We all need something to look forward to!
Enjoy your day :)
Morning Annette, getting away is fab, we only had 4 hours in Cleethorpes but it was really nice, had fish and chips but no ice cream for me, Emma did manage one, I was full and not going to Norfolk till next week so we can have 2 nights away, and a good friend of mine is taking me out Saturday she is taking me to my favourite pub in the peak district, weather next week is really nice, would have liked it warmer, though probably perfect for you, have a great time.
love Eddie xx
Morning Kate, your garden sounds amazing, my little garden at home, all raised beds as back yard, i live in a terrace, is on 15 inches of concrete, I only have 22 square yards of planting space so grow upwards and everything is done with wildlife in mind and minimal maintenance, even though it's a sun trap I hardly water and never feed apart from mulching with what i sweep up and prune, I would have loved a garden like yours, In my younger days, I love a natural looking garden, what a wonderful project you have, I am, like you, going to try and take Poppy on longer walks, should help my motivation which has not been too good lately. I hope the roofers turn up soon, enjoy the garden and your long walks with Candy.
Eddie xx
