  • Hi it’s so hard isn’t it. I’m going to cypress in June   I just get a no when they find it’s incurable. I have got the eu medical card though. I need memories with my husband so there is no way I’m Grinningt going Grinning

  • It's worth bearing in mind or questioning the insurer on their definitions.  I was doing some online quotes and they prompt "is it terminal?".  First of all I interpreted this to mean "incurable" so answered yes.  But when I was talking to All Clear / Stay Sure (I think they are the same company) on the phone, I asked for their definition and I was surprised by their answer!  They defined "terminal" as having been advised by a doctor/consultant that your lifespan was limited or shortened.    They additionally advised "there's "incurable, but treatable", but "terminal" isn't this".   I thought that was really useful and that was when I realised I had been answering this question incorrectly on previous occasions.

  • The EU medical card only works if you are still a European citizen. If you aren't, you might need to recheck your position. Macmillan publish aguide to travel including a list of insurers who have been known to insure people with cancer, including secondary cancer.
