Here by special request, the latest in the Lovely Morning series.
Hi people, It's after 2.45am and as usual I am awake! I wonder if I can ask those on Oramorph (liquid Morphine) please how many miligrams you have been prescribed for constant pain, breakthrough pain, to take the edge off the pain or just to help you sleep?
Morton, you mentioned the boffins who develope the drugs we are on! I don't think they can ever pay them enough, or the Oncologists either. They save people's lives (mine included) and when I hear how much they are paying footballers, celebs, etc it just makes my blood boil. People have been chatting and sharing anniversaries of when they were diagnosed incurable. Can you believe in May 2023 it will be my 10th Anniversary! A Trial Drug saved me and my Oncologist for fighting for it for me, when I failed the screening test because the Melanoma had spread to chest, lymph nodes in groin and pelvis as well as my eye. She never gave up and neither did I. As Ellie said it doesn't seem that long sometimes but at other times it feels like another lifetime ago. It has not been an easy journey what with many surgeries, side effects etc but the main thing is, I'm still on the journey!
Have a good day and a brilliant weekend!
Love Annette x
Good morning Annette I hope you got some sleep at last. 10th Anniversary is wonderful and it is amazing to hear your oncologist is fighting for you as hard as you are fighting for yourself. As you say there is never enough gratitude that we can give them. I don’t take oromorph at the moment. Do you have a Macmillan nurse or someone you can speak to about best dose for pain/sleep?
Oncology appointment for me this morning, should be an interesting one! Hope you and everyone else has a lovely day

Hi Morton, Still no sleep so far. We were at the Lights ON family night in the village earlier with our grandchildren, they thoroughly enjoyed it. There was stalls selling home baking and crafts. There were books and jigsaws on 3 large tables for children and two for adults and they were all free. Santa was in the library with his Elves who were giving out Haribo sweets free, visiting Santa was also free and the children all got brand new story books, they were so excited as they love books. There was a countdown from 10 at 5pm and the tree in the Community Garden as well as the Christmas lights on every lamppost all went on at once! It was a terrific night, most of the village turned out. It was too busy to use the wheelchair, so I used my elbow crutches and overdid it! Now I'm suffering for it but it was worth it!
Saturday there's a Craft Fair in the Scout Hall, Sunday there's a Christmas Fair at the school. The children make cards, candles etc and sell them for school funds. The profit from that goes toward the whole school going to the Pantomime next month and everyone supports it! So it's going to be a busy weekend!
Good luck with your appointment this morning, hope it is all good news. Regarding Oramorph, I just wondered if it made people tired. It doesn't seem to work for me. Have a great weekend!
Love Annette x
That sounds like a wonderful night with the grandchildren and very festive. A busy Saturday too, Christmas had arrived :) Thank you re appointment. I have taken oromorph previously and found it to make me very sleepy. It’s funny how we all react differently to different drugs. I hope you get some rest today at least, Take Care x
