Hi all. I've been having pain in my liver the last week or two. I know I have mets in my liver and have been put on letrazole and ribociclib to try and regain control. The thing is I'm getting more pain even though I have been on these drugs 3 months now. Any one else had the same effects and does this mean its not working?
Finding it difficult to concentrate on anything else at the moment, as the pain is sharp and then goes again and I find myself waiting for the next one so I'm prepared for it., bit it still makes me jump. It's like a stabby pain.
I hope the rest of you are all OK.
Hi Lily0403 that doesn't sound very pleasant. Have you spoke to your doctor about this? It sounds like you need some pain meds. I get a vey similar pain, but mine is my gallbladder. Hope it eases soon for you xx
Hi. Yes I spoke to the nurse on the chemo ward and he said to call GP and my MacMillan nurse. I have emailed her and my GP surgery said to call in the morning. So I will do that. I have tramadol and amitriptyline for pain relief but I can still feel it. Hopefully it will be nothing serious, but it does help to talk on here, even if no one replies, it gets it off your chest. Thank you for replying. Take care. X
Hi Lils, I have cirrhosis of the liver due to treatment drugs for cancer and my GP doesn't deal with anything to do with that at all. I go to a specialist Liver Clinic and they are very attentive. The Professor in charge has given me his email address and his mobile number to contact in an emergency as he said things can change quite quickly. My liver is not working at full capacity but I feel they are on top of it.
Do you see a liver specialist or is it oncology who deal with everything? I think if that is the case, you could possibly ask your GP or oncologist for a referral to the specialists!
Any type of pain is hard to deal with, so if what you are taking isn't working, please tell them to try something else!
Love Annette x
Hi Annette.
I'm under the oncologist. My GP is always on top of things when it comes to cancer patients, I'm very fortunate to have such a great GP. He is going to see me this morning to "make a plan".
I have emailed my MacMillan nurse and she will tell the oncologist so hopefully will hear soon.
Thank you for replying I hope you are doing well. Cancer likes to keep us all on our toes. Take care.
Hi Lils, So pleased you have seen your GP and he is a good support. I must say, I too have a great GP!
Lets hope the script he gave you, clears things up! If not then do ask about slow release morphine, I had that with a quick release tablet for breakthrough pain! Good luck. Please let us know how you get on!
Love Annette x
Ouch lils that sounds very painful! Glad the GP is keeping an eye, and hopefully it will settle soon xx
