I know that started this brilliant idea so I wanted to carry it on for her and as the forum has become a little gloomy recently as we face loosing them both soon.

So

1. daloni and dizzie outlasted their prognosis by years and I am sure proved that you can have quality of life despite doctors best guesses and we all benefited from knowing them on here.

2. I just got back from a fabulous holiday in Galicia, northern Spain. I walked more than I have for months (chemo pushed me into a wheelchair) the food and wine was fab and I met old friends and laughed a lot.

3. Macmillan have admitted that their upgrade has been a bit sh*t and are working on improving it. Hurrah for Macmillan who have admitted it didn't go well. How many organisations actually come out and say that.

I don't like to think that newbies think that we are a miserable lot, what struck me on here when I came was how much joy, laughter and living went on despite cancer.

  • Hi ,

That happened to me when I said something with a swear word beginning with f and ending with k and "off". Dont know why, and it was really irritating. I just used a more innocuous phrase which took away the emphasis but hey ho.

On the issue of your port a cath - interesting experience isnt it? I got mine 2 years ago after about 30 iv chemos and I couldnt face more hunting for veins. I had another 40 plus using it, and it was fab. Mine however only allows fluid in and never bleeds back when they try. Which was a great source of concern to the nurses at first until it was checked by a scan and found to be in the right place but had developed a fibrin sheath which was acting as a one way valve. I havent been having iv chemo for over 12 months now, but I still have the port for the day when the oral chemo stops working. Having it flushed once per month is no problem.

    3 good things:

    1. Chemo yesterday, did not have the snappy tearful day today - maybe I’m getting used to it.

    2.  Met some nice people at chemo yesterday.

    3.  Remembered to book my next blood test in spite of chemo brain

  • The art club was a Grayson Perry thing on channel 4. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12183038/

If you want to join in a community art thing I'm trying #JanuaryChallenge with #64MillionArtists you can join in on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. I think they may have a weekly challenge through out the year.

Sounds lovely Salis. You were lucky, all of those things will be illegal in a couple of days thanks to Whitty and Valence or whatever their names are!
