︎ Gaming helped me heal after Hodgkin’s lymphoma — my story of recovery

Hi everyone Blue heart

In April 2024, doctors discovered I had Hodgkin’s lymphoma – stage IV.
Everything changed overnight. I began BEACOPP chemotherapy for two intense rounds — it was brutal, both physically and mentally.
After that, we stepped down to ABVD, which I continued for another six months.

Those months were the hardest of my life. I’m a dad with a 6-year-old daughter, and trying to stay strong for her was both my biggest challenge and my greatest motivation.

The good news is — I made it Pray
I’m now in remission, but still on medical leave, dealing with the deep fatigue chemo leaves behind. Recovery is slow, but I’m getting better every week.

What truly helped me rebuild myself was gaming and streaming Video game
When everything else felt dark, creating videos and connecting with others online gave me purpose again. It reminded me that I could still build something meaningful — even from home, even while healing.

My dream is simple:
to keep building this project, and one day take my daughter on her first real vacation Beach️ — to thank her for her patience, her love, and all the smiles that kept me going — and to give her a brighter future Sunrise

Cancer took a lot from me, but it also gave me perspective: that small joys, love, and creativity are worth fighting for every single day.

Thanks for reading my story, and strength to everyone here who’s still fighting or recovering. You’re not alone Blue heart

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am sorry to see you joining us.

I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.

I don’t have Hodgkin's Lymphoma but for some context I was officially diagnosed way back in 1999 at 44…… although I now realise I had most likely been living with with my rare (8 in a million) incurable but treatable type of Skin (Cutaneous) T-Cell Lymphoma (a type of slow growing Low-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma) ……. for much longer.

I eventually reached Stage 4a in late 2013 when a second, also rare (4 in a million) type of aggressive Peripheral T-cell lymphoma not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS) (a type of fast growing High-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma) was then presenting so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ is different I most definitely appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

So well done navigating your journey to date…… you will see from this LINK my journey was rather complicated……. But I am now 10 years out from my last treatment, turn 70 in a few weeks and living great post treatment life.

The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend that you look to join and put up your own post in our dedicated……..

I will keep an eye open for you in the group.
