Hi,
Can anyone advise how long after treatment finished did their breast area and under arm settle.
I had my operation in June followed by chemo July to September then radiotherapy in October. I'm now on Letrozole. However I still feel discomfort not pains as such in breast area. My fear is they have missed some of the tumour or it's cone back. I can't feel a lump but it's uneven area because of op so probably scar tissue.
Thank you xx
Hi Missymolly welcome to this corner of the community and let’s see if anyone is looking in can help you out.
I see you have been posting in our dedicated Breast cancer group, I would suggest you post this in this group as well as I think you would get a wider group of people.
Hi
Thank you. I think I did and was advised to post here.
Sorry not very good at navigating my way xx
Nothing wrong with putting your post here but it’s not a busy group but the BC group is very busy.
Hello I had 2 lumpectomies for BC in Sept/ Oct 23 followed by chemotherapy radiotherapy and Herceptin which I finished this April. I still have quite a bit of breast pain and discomfort , I understand this is normal and can continue for quite some time. If you are concerned about the lumpy area perhaps speak to your Macmillian nurse, she should be able to advise you. I wish you well xx
Hi Missymolly
Sorry about your discomfort. I had TNBC, chemo from July-Dec, lumpectomy in Jan and radiotherapy in March.
I too experience discomfort and was referred to the Lymphoedema Clinic. Turns out I have lymphoedema in the breast!
Apparently this is caused by damaged lymph nodes which causes a build up of lymph fluids! I am currently undergoing manual lymphatic drainage which has helped a great deal and provided much relief.
I just thought I would mention it. As I didnt know I could develop such a condition in the breast. My radiotherapy consultant was the one who referred me when I mentioned the discomfort after my radiotherapy sessions.
Wishing you all the best and hope you find relief soon!
Best wishes
Thank you for your response. I got the lumpy area checked. Thankfully just scar tissue. I still have some discomfort but reassured it's scar tissue. Its weird how any ache or pain my first thought is cancer or has it spread. Thankfully back at work now and these thoughts are less troublesome.
I wish you well in your recovery xx
Thank you for your response. There's lots of different reasons for discomfort my head just ran away with me. I got checked and am okay. Thank you for sharing i didn't realise you could get the lymphoedema in your breath.
Wishing you well in your recovery xx
Hi Missymolly, I know what you mean - I had my quadrantectomy and one lymp node removed from my breast, followed by radiotherapy. Sometimes I catch myself touching the scar tissue and worrying because it feels tough, but I guess it's normal. I can also feel discomfort in both of my breasts - especially before my period it's really uncomfortable sometimes. I have an ultrasound at the end of August and hopefully it's nothing and just a side effect of all the treatments.
