I've noticed recently that having a stoma has kinda ruined my love life. I'm just wondering if anyone else has been or is suffering with the same problem. Its horrible. Especially on Valentines Day there. I was constantly driving past couples holding hands and hugging each other and at first I found it cute and had a taste of putting faith back into the human race until I realized that I'll never have that kinda full time, long and close relationship with someone else again. Who would wanna be with someone with a stoma bag stuck to them when the can get someone without all that drama?
Hi Pinball and welcome to the group.
I hope you will get the chance to have a relationship again-I was already married when I had surgery with two stomas, so I haven’t had to face the world of dating with stomas but I’d imagine it would be quite a daunting thought.
Have you had a chance to take a look at this “dating with a stoma” video where Sarah (not me!) tells her story.
Sarah xx
Thanks for the reply. I really haven't had the chance to see that video yet. I'm not exactly looking for a relationship right now for other reasons that I'd rather not get into where all can see but friendship right now would be like a prospector finding a desert made of gold dust. It seems like the world has became so selfish these days too.
