Hello again, it’s been a while since I’ve been on as lots has been happening.
I’m due to start preventative chemo this Thursday and am looking for any tips to get me thru- someone has recommended taking an iPod or likes but I’m not really up to date with those (what make etc Is best and also not too expensive , plus easy to use as I’m def not tech savvy )?
thanks in advance x
A lot will depend on which type of chemo you are having, and how long the sessions are.
My sessions were long, but I found they passed pretty quickly. I was like FloC and couldn’t concentrate to read a book. I spent most of the time chatting with my partner and to others in the room I was in-there were about 8 of us and the lady next to me was having the same chemo for the same cancer as me.
Have you got a phone you could listen to music or podcasts on with headphones? Or where you could download something to watch? Im not sure it’s worth buying any kind of new devise if it’s not something you would use again. And having the infusion may make you sleepy so you might even nap.
Sarah xx
If you are having an infusion something you can do with one hand is best.I took my knitting to my first session ,which was pointless.
I read magazines and chatted to my neighbours which helped to pass the time. And with the numerous tea and biscuit offerings and staff checking on me regularly the time soon passed.
All the best with your treatment.
Kath
Thank you for your advice.
Chemo starts tomorrow so I’ve managed to get some wireless ear buds to listen to music and have gathered some magazines to read. As it’s my 1st chemo Hubbie is coming with me so I’ll have him to chat with but I’m sure I’ll get chatting to others taking treatment too. X
Thanks again Sarah for your advice.
